Actually, in portugal we talk about the moon in feminine. I do think that the moon is the queen at night and the sun as the king on its time. Maybe is a romantic kind of way how we (portuguese) see it. I think thats a beautiful way to think. That way the night seems less dark. ; )

For "Fred Madeira"> I always wondered if the moon was more feminine, rather than what we were taught as young children about the the moon as being masculine ... All the nursery rhymes about the man in the moon.

I do like to learn that old term, as it make much more sense for most women that are close to the cycle of the moon.

But, I must disagree in your comment about the clouds "erasing the queen of the night."

*Think about how the full moon affects the tides, and then how the tides affect nature. Perhaps that was Mother nature sending a few wisps of clouds to cradle her old friend.
