It would be a good photo if you did use HDR. You didn't as it seems you used HDR software on a single photo. A good HDR looks very natural as it increases the tonal range to take care of shades and lights. You need at least 5 photos taken at regular exposure intervals (e. g., -0.7, 0.3, 0, +0.3, +0.7) in order to combine them into a single photo in appropriate software. Wish you a success next time :)
