Well caught Dave - I follow your photo's closely as I am a bird lover and these woodpeckers are fine birds - How lucky you are to find this nice hideout for them and well use of the situation - like the captions as well. I will say that your photo's can be a lot sharper with a little work in Photoshop (you use CS3) both this on and the woodpecker with the berry in its beek have come up very well here with only a few minutes work - Have you tried LCE - Local Contrast Enhancement - I wrote about it in the forum some time ago - her is a good link :- http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/local-contrast-enhancemen

This is very well done, and you have done a great job of it. Hard to switch shutter speeds suddenly when a bird comes flying past. I wonder was it coming or going. It looks like a tiny hole they live in. Such beautiful birdsthey are!

How fantastic to capture such a unique action in this way. Not only the flight is wonderful, but also the following gaze of the other one. Good composition, textures, movement, it's all there. To my favorites!
