Doel, Belgium

the village of Doel has to make place for the expanding port of Antwerp, the Flemish government has decided; many houses already have been pulled down; about 200 people still live in the village; most of them have to leave before august the 31th, that same government has decided; the stayers paint a red heart (sometimes two) on each house that has been deserted and is going to be pulled down; to remind the visitors of Doel that once there have been living people there and that the last Doelians will never forget them (11apr09)
