Darwin, Australia
I was lucky to get so close by this 'hunting bird' (Comoran?), which was drying it's oily feathers in the sun.

I thought this bird was a Cormorant too and looked it up to identify it. That yellow spear-like beak marks her as a Darter. Cormorants have a hook at the end of their beaks. Darters are also known as the Snake bird according to my book. Must be that curly neck! Great pic.

Great capture! I love the focus and lighting on this bird, that may well be a relative of our North American Cormorant. The thing is with our Cormorants, is that they have no oil in their feathers. That enables them to dive deeper and longer under water while they are searching for fish. But they have to dry off their wings after feeding. What ours do, is sit up on a rock or a branch, then open their wings up. Most often towards the sun.
*Definitely a different type of Cormorant! I love to see and learn from this comparative.

"My" cormorants always seem to be very shy. Lucky you. This is a brilliant shot. Did'nt know they could be so colorful. -5*- And to my favorites.
