Krakow, Poland
Wieliczka Salt Mine - It had been until 2007 in continuous operation, producing table salt, since the 13th century. It was one of the world's oldest operating salt mines (the oldest being in Bochnia, Poland, some 20 kilometers distant from Wieliczka).

I only just now read your comment, great of your mother to do that! I took my children also to Poland to do some kind of tour and show them where my father came from!

@giz - It's my mother with Roy my son on "the march of the living" in Poland. She is escorting groups of high school students as survival - to tell the story again and again.
