Unnusual portrait, but very expressive. A lonnely lady, IMO.

When I first viewed this interesting portrait, I thought this lady was the owner of a promising horse in one of the Triple Crown races, that had not even placed. Her extreme efforts in her personal grooming, from her perfect hat, makeup, and matching pearl jewelry, succeed in the portrayal of a very proper lady.
After I read your description, I thought all the same, although not about a disappointment at the races. Perhaps that poorly disguised emotion on her face might have to do with her just learning that her son/daughter is marrying below her station?

Much prefer this to your other shot of her. Your use of natural light here is totaly stunning. I would love to see more photographs of this elegant lady, she has the perfect face to make interesting and pleasing portraits. She is very beautiful and a wonderfull study.

Lovely portrait
I'm thinknig of les grandes dames, in films like "Death in Venice". Miami? so she is a classic southern belle! Wonderful study, neil.
