A reminder of Dublin's Viking past.

The largest Viking ship uncovered during excavations ( 1962 ) was the Skuldelev 2, the remains of an ocean-going long ship built in 1042 in Dublin using Scandinavian ship-building methods.

Following reconstruction, this ship was launched in Denmark in 2004 and christened "Havhingsten fra Glendalough" ( The Sea Stallion from Glendalough ). In July 2007 a crew of 65 men and women sailed it from Roskilde to Dublin.
