Well, some luck, some average camera equipment, some major research about the behavior of the critters that I wanted to capture, also major interest and patience. I learned, researched, anticipated ... And yes .. . I also spent hours waiting to capture just the right photo!

RE: "joseluis" comment. I thought that I knew enough of the romance languages ... That I translated, "Buen disparo" into; "Good loss/despair". (Which made sense.) But I was so wrong. Those two simple words mean "Good Shot." Thank you for your nice comments, and making me learn.

I promise that I did not add the fish, to the photo or the pond! If you look closely, you can see puncture marks on the side of the fish. Osprey will always turn a capture face-forward while in flight, in order to reduce wind drag. Amazing, eh? (Thanks for all your comments.)

Hai, thanks. But I've not had any of my bird photos published with pay. I do submit some of my photos to local papers, and am seriously thrilled when they are printed. This is one photo that I submitted to the Massachusetts Audubon Society, requesting that they give me credit on the photo. But I didn't hear back from them.

As Leon says " good catch " - in both senses of that word !!!
# posted by Lisa Buchanan, also Zazi on April 21st, 2008 3:35 am
Hmm, well ... The thing is, that sometimes humans think they're doing these goldfish a favor, by releasing them into a pond or stream. Turns out that when we introduce a creature into an environment that it is not supposed to be in ... Then it upsets the balance of the eco-system. Consider the rabbits in Australia, abd the African Bees in America.
