On the 23rd of May 2009, an international Woophy Meeting took place in Aveiro, Portugal. We joined 32 members from different nationalities in a merry and successful fraternization, visits to town and, the topper, a wonderful lunch that took place at SalPoente Restaurant -- also a well known location for cultural events. On that very same day, at 6 p.m., the "16 Woophy.com Photographers" exposition was officially inaugurated. This show, inserted into the commemorations celebrating 250 years of the city of Aveiro, was initially foreseen to last until the 20th of June. However, due to its success and receptivity among the visitors of the 49 Pictures Exhibition, it was extended for two more weeks. Invited by the organizing staff of the Exposition and Meeting (Teresa Soares and A.Miguel Oliveira) were Woophy Photographers from 8 different countries: Javier Kambrosis (Argentina), Ricardo Baigorria (Argentina), Laura Carlsson (Brazil), Bernadette Cumant (France), Jan Hemels (Netherlands), Maciej Tamkun (Poland), Paolo La Farina (Italy), Ruden Fretsbo (Spain), A.Miguel Oliveira (Portugal), Ana Afonso (Portugal), Cristina Gonçalves (Portugal), Luís Borges Alves (Portugal), Malice (Portugal), Paulo Vasco Xavier (Portugal), PBX/Paulo M. Xavier (Portugal), and Teresa Soares (Portugal). Another city in the north of Portugal, Guimarães, is intending to welcome the exhibition in the very near future and a new meeting will take place there for this occasion.
