In April I was invited to a birthday party on a boat cruising the canals of Amsterdam
The old 'Salonboat' is called the Old Queen

We got on board at the Entrepotdok, former warehouses are transformed into beautiful apartments

on the boat a high tea was served, hot food was hung down from one of the bridges

view on the Sint Nikolaaskerk (st. Nicolas churh) via the floating Chinese restaurant

this building in the shape of a ship in the harbour is the Nemo technologoly museum for children, www.e-nemo.nl

the weather was beautiful, so a lot of people came out to enjoy the sun

the 16th century Montelbaanstoren, built for defense of the city

one of the beautiful Amsterdam canals

the 'Stopera'(nickname) the ballet and opera house, officially called the Muziektheater,
www.het-muziektheater.nl

the Blauwbrug, next to the Muziektheater, one of the beautiful old bridges

the latest museum in Amsterdam, the Hermitage, in a former old peoples home, completely renovated, where changing collections are shown from the famous Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg, www.hermitage.nl
the famous 'Magere Brug' (skinny bridge) over the Amstel, the main river streaming through Amsterdam, on which boards, the city was founded as Amstelredam

the floating flutist, a well known figure on the canals
great way to relax, on a boat with friends and bubbles in an ice cooler

on the pink hats was written 'Hen's party' 'the bride on the water bike soon will get married, I guess

beautiful facades of 17th century buildings. The 17th century is called the Golden Age in Amsterdam, most of the beautiful buildings on the canals were built in that age

on a beautiful day like this it's busy on the canals with all kinds of boats, like this one

one of the houseboats complete with floating garden

looks almost like a meditarrenean villa
