Old abandoned flax factory

Hello everyone,

Near my girlfriend's house is an old abandoned flax factory. One day we decided to go over there and take some pictures. Here are my results!

Very large chimney with small rooms used for drying the flax.

On this photo you can see the small rooms well.

This is a close-up of the chimney, it was a bit overexposed. So I've played a bit with the gamma-correction in IrfanView and this is the result.

A small dark corridor between the rooms where they used to dry the flax. It was a bit exciting :)

Some more small rooms used for drying flax. In every room all kinds of debris were lying on the floor.

Some more small rooms used for drying flax.

This small room isn't made from concrete like the others, it's build out of the same bricks as the chimney is.

Inside in one of the barns, someone tried to make sure that door wouldn't go open. In the past the local youth used to hang in the barn and burn things in it.

A pipe coming out of the roof of the barn, I think they transported flax with it into the barn.

Inside a big barn. Many debris on the ground. I also noticed some (new) soda cans on the floor. Guess I wasn't the only visitor.

A burned cabinet. Perhaps destroyed by the local youth.

This the entrance of the office. It looks a bit scary but with all my courage I just entered it! haha :p

Another barn. Again, notice the destroyed windows.

Entering the one of the other barns.

The inside of the barn.

Some plants in the barn :)

A few archive files (there were many more) in the barn. It was in a good condition, not damaged by rain because it was under a roof.

I couldn't find a window which wasn't destroyed. But I liked this round window

Again a destroyed window.

If you look well, you can see it's a destroyed caravan :)

A strange red chair in one of the small flax drying rooms. Something tells me someone resently sit there.

Another chair, notice the shoe prints on the last one in the dust on the chair. Who was the last person in here?

I found this on the ground, this is the only object Í've moved.

There were tires all over the place. So if you need any old tires... :)

I wanted to share this with you all, thanks for your time and I hope you liked it :)

Greetings,

Thierry

There is always some fascination with abandoned things, specially when they carry memories. Even if not our memories. We can imagine what would have been like working here thirty or forty years ago.
A good report and an interesting look.

Hi Thierry.
This is an interesting report, and original Idea to have a look in this abandoned factory. The abandoned things always keep something where they were alive and used. There is a strange and mystery atmosphere which is filtering on all your photos. Escpecially this red chair, which has been certainly brought here long time after the factory closed its door.
