 | www.theartist.exto.nl 'I was born on March 18, 1975, in Delfzijl, in the northern part of The Netherlands. When I was little I lived in my own dream world, and I have been drawing as long I can remember. By the time I was in elementary school, as I was drawing whenever I had the chance, I often daydreamt of other worlds and realities in order to escape the harsh reality of everyday life. During the time I was in high school and even later on in life I used to take long strolls through Subconsciousness, perceiving realities that I found difficult to put in words or images. A bunch of thumb nail sketches and once in a while something that resembled a real painting, and there the matter rested. Then, in 2002, I started experimenting with digital photography. A thick curtain lifted, and I started to develop myself very rapidly in this new field. Soon I learned how to work software like for instance Adobe Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, Fireworks and so on. I realised that image editing software enabled me to effectively render my subconscious thoughts and experiences into surrealistic images – in a way that really tickles the imagination –, something that seemed not possible when I was still painting. I finally was able to show the world who I really am. I guess you could say that my photographic images reflect the relationship of my being, my spirit powers, to the greater world and other beings. Several new works are displayed in the web gallery, as can been seen in the series PORTRET (PORTRAIT) and SURREALISTIC WORLDS. Included is a new set called FORMS OF LIFE, showing images that are sometimes meant in a funny way, but with a serious undertone.
