More to Learn About the Area

Posted by HoosierThom on April 22nd, 2010 | 0 comments | 228 views

I have found a road, or what's left of a road, that went to Monument City. I found out that the name of this road was Hill Road. I have also learned that Bowman Road went to New Holland, and connected to the Lincolnville Road. I am still looking for Zoar, which I still have not found on a map. However, an area of many foundations does exist in an area that fits the description that I was given as to Zoar's location.

I have also learned that Pearson Mill may not have been located where I thought. Pearson Mill Road actually connected to Hoover Road. There was also a bridge that connected Pearson Mill Road to Somerset. Somehow, Pearson Mill Road became disconnected from Yankee Road. Why did that happen, and how? Also, there was a mill at the end of Pearson Mill Road by Hoover Road. Which one of these mills was Pearson Mill? Perhaps neither.

I enjoy these treks. I still am looking to learn what happened to Waltz. I came across a reference that Waltz was located along Mill Creek. I am still trying to locate Waltz. Also, what about Beldin? Or even more bizarre, New Harrisburgh, which was in the northwest part of the county. I have not explored the northern part of the county. Since I have taken up photography as a hobby, I have been learning many things about Wabash County, and I have been getting great exercise from these treks to forgotten places.
