In October of this year (2009), I noticed there were more than just honey bees visiting our Shepherd's Needle. A Shepherd's Needle is a wild flower considered native to Florida and the Carolinas. It has made it's way to the Texas Gulf Coast in the last decade. My husband and I plucked one from a downtown vacant lot here in Houston, a couple of years ago. We planted it in our yard and now have a mass of white and yellow flowers blooming all year round.
