My Favourite Photography QUOTES

Today, the 10th June, is Portugal's Day! Interesting we comemorate it on the date of our most renown classical epic poet's death (not birthday): Luís Vaz de Camões (Camoens, for foreigners), in the XVI century. Why not taking advantage of an important date for portuguese communities to blog about Photography Quotes?;)
If you like it, be free to comment any or add extra quotes from your favourite set!
Some of my favourites, normally from classical photographers, to start with:
“To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
Elliott Erwitt
“I take photographs with love, so I try to make them art objects. But I make them for myself first and foremost - that is important.
Jacques-Henri Lartigue
"The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera."
Dorthea Lange
“ Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow."
Imogen Cunningham
"There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer."
Ansel Adams
"My portraits are more about me than they are about the people I photograph."
Richard Avedon
"I never have taken a picture I've intended. They're always better or worse."
Diane Arbus

I will share this one I read today
"The photographer projects himself into everything he sees, identifying himself with everything in order to know it and to feel it better."

For me , every picture is a suprise.
Is it because I`m old and wise?
Or is it ..I have bad eyes?

I like the ones ffrom D. Lange and I. Cunningham
2 other ones representative in my opinion of what the photography should be : (hope translation is good...)
" What the photography reproduces for eternity takes place only once "
Roland Barthes
" It is not a question of stealing but of retaining a light, a glance, a gesture , an emotion. "
Philippe Valldemosa
