This week in Copenhagen the United Nations Global Conference on Climate Change will start. Still not everybody is convinced that we shoul take all measures possible to stop or reverse the warming up of our planet!
Every day we hear news about the devastating effect of the destruction of tropical forests on the production of CO2. In Greenland, Siberia, The Andes, the Himalaya and the Alps we can see the consequences of our irresponsible behaviour.
When I looked into my garden to day I saw lots of flowers in bloom that normally have long disappeared by mid december.
Did you witness identical effects in your environment?? Have you seen examples of our behaviour that will accelerate global warming? Please add them to this topic!

Will these kind of pictures soon be the only witness of times before the great melt down of the Polar areas ????

Great topic and good opportunity, I was myself preparing something related to the same subject but complementary, Extreme weather phenomenon, when I discovered your topic.

Climate Change: Glacier retreating
Nepal - Annapurna Base camp Nov 2007, some friends who were with me could witness the change with what they observed themselves 20 years ago.

Thanks Mario I missed you blog, It is very clear from your report what is happening in the Alps as well as in all our glacier areas, those around the Equator seem to be the worst hit as is very well shown by Patrice (Zeeg)
I witnessed the same in Canada on the Icefield Parkway and in Ecuador.
Thanks Alain for your report of the demonstration in Brussels, I hope it will contribute to a successful agreement in Copengaen!

Have a look at this gallery, too...

(Notice how the 1st picture looks a bit like geert genen's picture no. 429688 - but the yellow sky is real!)

Sorry to be the "spoil-sauce" but, as I already said, we are all guilty !
have a look on www.calculateurcarbone.org and you will be astonished
btw,it would be fun to calculate the carbon footprint that will weigh the arrival of all these great names in Copenhagen ! do you really think that they will go from the airport to their hotels by citybus ? to resumate, "Do what I say but do not do what I do" as said Saint Matthew
anyway, we must continue to make a few little things that can help without without rotting life !

Excellent contribution through your Blog TBM.
I'll try to obtain from my friends their old pics from the Annapurna base camp to make the same comparison .

THE PICTURES FOLLOWING HAVE ALL BEEN TAKEN ON THE 8TH OF DECEMBER IN MY OWN GARDEN (1-5) AND IN NEIGHBOURING GARDENS.

Although frost seems to be on the way so far these months have been much warmer than the long term average!
