Oct 1984, just a few years after the death of Mao. I started my 6th week on my own throughout China. Alone in Shanghai for a week, I had a drink at Peace Hotel, an outdated place, full of reminiscence of its glorious past. A great moment of emotion in that time still sad and dull when the old band started to play “Yesterday” from the Beatles….
(These pics , already 25 years old, come from Kodachrome 64 slides, not that easy to scan and with the limits due to the very low sensitivity)

In 2004 a new street in the former village of Lent, nowadays part of Nijmegen, was named after John Lennon. The streetsigns are placed on a height of more than 3 meters to prevent people from stealing them. Other streets in this neighbourhood are named after The Beatles, The Kinks, Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Pink Floyd, The Police and Queen.
