Monday november the 9th 2009 it is 20 years ago the Berlin Wall fell down. Please show your photo's to remember; and to celebrate this day.

These two photo's show a permanent exposition in Bernauer Strasse. In 1961 the wall was built in the middle of this street, dividing families, friends and neighbours for more than 28 years.

Temporary monument in the garden of the German embassy in The Hague.
The wall is broken but now there's a fence?

This is a superb initiative Geert, but I somewhat have mixed feelings about celebrations all
over the world about the fall of this shameful wall while at the same moment another
shameful wall is being built , destroying peoples lives and destroying families, most hypocrital imho TO SAY THE LEAST

this message will most likely NOT be to everybodies liking, but I live in a free world and stand by my opinions: -)

translation: 'there are many walls to break down.'

before the wall fell down in 1989, the people in the GDR were not free to express their opinions; so let's celebrate that historical moment.
and every wall between people is one wall too much. the fall of the Berlin Wall sadly enough has not been the end. so i share your mixed feelings. but someday another wall will fall too.

this photo was taken last summer; the last remains of the Berlin Wall have become a tourist attraction (and why not?). but there is more, there has been more. and thanks, RiSi, for your wonderful photo.
