Found: sometimes we find an object on our path. And this object catches our eye. It was either lost or discarded but we see it has real photographic potential. The story of this photo is when I was on a tour of the countryside of Rome and I found this ancient Roman coin. It is in pretty bad condition and not worth much, but it is one of my favorite found souvenirs.
Please share with me your photos of found objects.

it is not very special, but I like it. And it is used by both my son and daughter for a lesson at school about the biology of animals and I scared my wife the hell out of it when I told her I found this skull hidden somewhere in the kitchen behind a cabin.......gna gna gna evil grin...

Found by my dogs: Gentle and curious new friends ... 1 of 3 abandoned domestic albino rats. I was able to rescue the 2 survivors, (after a different dog killed one. )

To fotogravenswaay: You definitely have an evil side to your photography gift! Your poor wife was probably searching and bleaching (sterilizing) the kitchen, and rest of the house. How long until you told her the truth?

To Dieuwertje: I love your first and third photos, that gave an impish story. (Those two belong together with your comments.) The middle one, I think, is a separate and excellent photo of a great find along the beach. I also really think that your framing is just perfect for that.

ray9, this is also interesting too, I often just walk by discarded shoes and never thought to photograph them. The ones I remember the most though are the one hanging high on telephone lines

Hi Thomas,
a while ago I found roses on the pavement -- collected them in a circle of light and gave them a glow -- don't know what happened, maybe an accident with the spokes of a bicycle wheel.

In the land of legends of the roundtable, in the broceliande forest, I found a special and misterious place close to the fountain of youth (see URL )
Would not it be a new round of Merlin ?

I am a fossicker ( a looker for things ) by natural and mostly notice and find natural things. I love to find evidence of our first inhabitants and love to come across scar trees. This scar was about the size of a shield but the bark could also have been used to make a more domestic container.
One day when we were out surveying an area known to have many scar trees we came across a hollow log with some very interesting parcels inside. There is a contemporary synthetic sack on the top, but under that was a much older hessian bag bound with string that looks much older. The tree may just have been somewhere for a farmer to place unwanted objects but the bound parcel seemed to be so carefully placed. It looked like a secret hiding place, and it felt best to leave it there.
Sometimes the things we find are heartbreaking. I take this with the idea of making a poster to convince people to slow down at night in areas where wildlife abounds. I have many more but thats enough for now. Vic.

for some years I was looking for something as simple as an undamaged piece of this species, but always some snail or other animal had come first. So I was really happy with this little fellow.

Vixstix, Thank you for sharing this photo in the forum, the ground level point of view really gives it an unique view. and the point of view and the cropping ( the arm raised covering the head) is masterfully done. I should make a poster for awareness using it. The photo is powerful. 5
