Concerning this topic...

This evening I was rather thrilled by seeing my name, or at least my nickname, in a topic title. Unfortunately Joris locked the topic already before I could answer it myself. So since I'm convinced I've the right to speak for myself I opened this new topic.

I'll try to shine a light on my behaviour as it is rising questions among some members wich I honestly do understand.

First of all I'd like to thank Abílio Silveira for mentioning my name and all the probable extra comments it possibly gained me. And yes you mailed me and despite all this I still will answer it.

About my behaviour:

I don't take effort to view all uploaded pics, there are simply too much. I do carry the principle that whenever I look at a picture I comment it ánd rate it to the best of my abilities (yes you have the right to question my abilities), wether it is good or it is bad. Although I must confess I've made some exceptions lately on this principle but still I'll try to live by it.

Specific about the way I rate: my philosophy is that the outer minimum and maximum values are nearly -and I say nearly- impossible to reach. So in my rating behaviour the 1 and 5value is virtually excluded with some rare exceptions. On this matter you can translate my values as follows on a scale from one to ten: my 1 here would equal a 1 on the other scale, my2 equals 2-4, 3 equals 5-6, 4 equals 7-9 and a 5 equals 10.

As I do insert my rate into my comment, and if I'm not mistaken I was one of the first to do that, everybody can approach me and ask for some explanation through woophy messaging service or direct by mail,cause I do not hide my mail. I'll try to answer it as fast as possible and -again- to the best of my abilities.

Also I try to be a bit rational so I ask you not to take my behaviour too personal as I do not intend to hurt anybody with my comments or ratings. But if I unintendly did I want to apologize for it.

About the closed topic:
I was executing my above mentioned principles on the pictures of tMBPotM. Didn't mean to upset anybody but again I'm sorry if I did.

@Abílio
- Respect for the effort you took to summarize my comments, also a thanks for it cause now I don't have to search where to go on
- I do not think I deserve that "silver camera" nor would I deserve a gold or a bronze one, simply based on my work. I am convinced, certainly by my own standards, my collection is overrated here. However I think they are good enough to be showed in here.

@Everybody
- Thx for defending me although I don't know if it was necessary cause I doubt Abílio ment it badly.

@Virginia
- If you were wondering you could have mailed me. But I can assure you and everybody else i haven't got to intention to demoralize.

@Ruud
- I've never changed my way of rating and if I ever will it will only be slightly. So yes you could say I rate as in the old days but even back then it my way was somewhat a-typical.

@Devish
- thx for looking up that picture

@Joris
- I regret you closed the topic before I had the chance to react however I do understand you had since if there has been one to be the target of criticism on person others will follow.

To close I'd like to say I know I'm a bit controversial but I stay honest and keep my integrity.
At least I can say that I can look that weird guy in the mirror straight in his eyes...

Grtz

The forum Nivad is talking about is this:
http://www.woophy.com/forum/9_3456_0.html

I posted the forum last night. This morning, after reading the comments of our fellows members of Woophy, I decided to post some more words in order to make myself clear about my thoughts about Nivad.

Meanwhile, Joris closed the forum and I did not have the opportunity to post the words I wrote.

What I was going to post is the following test (and I sent it to Joris by e-mail):

"Good morning, everyone.

I certainly understand Nivad's oppinions and I'm certain he is an honest person and I'm sure he rated the photos in this contest according to his conscience.

And I appreciate his effort to explain his state of mind when he votes and the reasons why he votes. My photo, for example, does not deserve a 5 and I think the 4 he gave me was reasonable.

As I said, I'm recent in Woophy and I got surprised when I received so many 5. Members do tend to rate 5, probably not to hurt others' feelings. And if someone rate lower than 5, normally don't show it openly.

Nivad is a man of courage in these days of soft and lazy "let it be": it's much easier to post a comment like "nice pic" and rate 5 than to analyze the photo and explain the reasons of our thoughts and rate accordingly. And rates do go from 1 to 5.

But, I still don't understand why Nivad rated only one of my 110 photos, the one that was in the contest. And from all the others he rated in the contest, there was only one, he had rated two weeks before: photo 571944 from member fercar. And as we know he is also participating in the contest, this seems a little strange to me...

That's all. I'll close this forum as soon as I understand how to do it
."

I hope I made myself clear.

Hello.
Nivad I support your commentaries, first of all because it is your point of view and must be respected, second one because they contribute many more than a simple "nice" or "wonderful'.
All the photographies can get improved, I cant understand , why? some members takes it as an offense when the mistakes are indicated in an image.
And come on Abilio, some of few constructive critiques towards your photographies, I be grateful.
Best regards.

Hi Nivad,

I was asked to join the forum, but got there too late, as mine was one the the photos described. I didn't take offence, although I didn't agree with you either, it was after all supposed to be a shot of the mountain. To be honest I don't really care what you rate my photos. I don't take photos to please you, or in fact anyone, apart from myself of course. And I am pleased with the results (most of the time). I'm quite happy with your honesty, and at least you took the time to look at my photo. I'm sure it's the same for most people.

All the best.

Hello!
I don't even have a Sponcered camera, anymore. I think I may even have the cheepest camera on market besides a phone. Sounds like you read the rules befor you joined, as well.
I am greatful for any Constructive criticism, not alot of people have Played with this kind of camera(1/2 settings, taken it apart & put back together, ect.) but if it's not a pic. you are interested in, I suggest you do not comment or rate it. This is just as effective. It also gets alot of my medoacre work off the sight. After a mo. or so, if not rated, I pull it & try again.
As for my Nice, Wonderful comments, I am a Consumer. Those are the pic.s I believe appeal to the EveryDay Eye. They are marketable in my opinion. I hope everyone can learn to take the bad with the good. Have Fun! Jan D.)
