Hello to you all,
Welcome in the world of Barchen
This is a topic I wanted to start for some time now.. (I admit I haven''t checked if there was a previous one alike). But it is about my little travel companion. On most of the trips I've made I carried this little teddy bear with me to snap-shot him at a famous location. Sort of substitute for myself ;-). Generally people like it and I'm sure there are more photo's from him around at a famous place made by other tourists! The first snapshot form Barchen was made in 1994! (scan's).
Anyway I know of the travelling pinquin, the stolen "garden gnome/ dwarf" and I noticed one at woophy.
Does anybody know/have anymore simular thing? -Show us.
Here is the gallery of Barchen / teddy bear at "famous" places.. can YOU find him?

It´s an original idea to photograph the places and monuments around the world including the little bear. It goes to be famous your little teddy bear ... like the Mr. Bean's bear.

You make me think of a french film "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain". In this film a "nain de jardin" (decorative dwarf statuette for garden) is photographied in different places in the world to make his owner believes that its statuette travels.

@Corneel Timmermans: you already noticed the travelling penguine. I'm not sure if you thereby think about the same artist as I do, or another similar project.
Ok, here is "my" version of the travelling penguins ;-)
Willy Puchner, an Austrian artist - he traveled with two quite big and unwieldy plastic-penguines around the world. Afterwards the pictures got published in the book "Sehnsucht der Pinguine" (engl. The Penguin's Longing). This was in 1992 - long time before the film "The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain" (which I love) and before the hype around "March of the Penguins".
Have a look at the pictures here: http://www.willypuchner.com/en/sdp/reise_index1.htm
Or the pictures of the "Private Album". There you get an impression about the "making of":

Thanks klaus,
It's the one I heard and have seen of before. Somebody told me this when seeing my Barchen shots. Very cool project I think!
Thanks for the link!

Hiya,
I also have done something similar. I was given a Buzz LightYear as a gift a few years ago and he has been travelling around the world with me, from Hawaii to the Himalayas!
It is just a bit of fun and I love looking back at his photos!
Here are a few.
