This picture is taken in the Garden of Eden (Qurnah, Iraq) and this is the actual Garden of Eden where Aden and Eve had some problems with an apple and a snake.
According the old testament, the Garden of Eden is located where the Euphrat and Tigris meet and go over in the Shat Al Arab and guess what... this is the place. It is made in to a shrine but due to various occasions neglected.
When the Iranians where in Iraq, they stole and broke everything in Qurnah but they did not touch this shrine. It was a well known tourist place in Iraq but that was a long time ago.

Thanks guys. According to the legend told by the people, it is the tree. And there is no history of somebody replacing the tree. It is dead but not completely. And where my colleague took the photo, there was an old Tourist Hotel/Tourist Service which was totally looted during the war but a lot of paintings and drawings where saved. And funny is that on all drawings you'll see, the shape of the tree stays the same.
I'm a well convinced atheist but I must say that you feel "something" when you enter the shrine. Strange feeling though.
