On one of my photos, called "Hunting scene with lions and buffalos", #62191, Frank asks "How did it end ??".

So here is the surprising story of struggle for life.

While game driving in the superb Amboseli Park in Kenya, our driver Isaac, observed a strange behaviour of some buffalos around. He suddenly started the engine and drove us to the place from which I took these pictures.

First we discovered a scene where lions were hunting a buffalo.

Unfortunatly for the victim, his fellows, despite several attempts, could not deliver him from the claws.

After a while, the situation looked really despaired...

The end is close...

But...

Coming from nowhere, crossing the swamp, here is...

a big and strong buffalo (the poor victim is really bad).

He attacks the the lions

The first lion flees,

then the second also!

An guess what! The victime is alive, he stands up!

The situation is fully reverted : the hunter is hunted.

Unlucky hunters

A hero

A lucky, but injured, pray.

The end.

I shot this series of photos during more than one hour! I think I was really lucky to see this kind of wild scene.
Thank you Nature.

I hope you enjoyed.

Thank you for the fantastic series of photos, they told a beautiful story of life’s struggle where it does not have to end the way we expect it to end. I love the pics, and it is great that the victim did not stay a victim.

Thank you all for your comments. I love safaris in Africa, and am happy to share my experience with you.

I don't know if the victim survived, he disapeared in the swamp, but I know that the lions did not eat for the day, I have been able to observe them from the top of a hill.

@Joris: of course, you can use it in the news. Thanks.

nice serial of pics, demonstrating that wild Bovidae (and a lot of domectic breeds) are a little bit clever and have a better sense of solidarity than Equidae, in spite of a very common opinion :-)

Kudos for this story !

Thanx for ur explanation, it is a bit cruel to see, but also a matter of survival, a lion doesnt eat grass, it also makes the survivors stronger, the selection of the weekest is natural for that.
