Hi all

two days of snow , i have enough already, and my traditional end of year trip to the Algarve
is also cancelled, weather seems not too promising, and after Iceland I NEED some sun ......

just booked a flight for Jan 1st to Agadir, and then a rent a car to Essaouira and possibly Safi

any tips about good hotels ( NOT at the beach ), restaurants, things to do etc are most welcome

Thanks in advance

Jan

Hi Jan, I prefer Essaouira highly over Agadir, we stayed however at a very comfortable medium sized beach hotel. In the medina there are several Chambres d'hôtes which you do not have to book in advance.

Agree with Jan, Essaouira is more typical than Agadir. Only problem, not sure for the weather. Can be like in Britanny in winter (but no snow... don't worry). when we go overthre we booked a room in the medina. In this season ask to visit it before, because of the ocean, there is a lot humidity, sometimes rooms can be wet.
I recommend a visit on the place of spices in the Medina. The is a man named Driss who makes babouches. He is so nice, and very warm welcoming.
If you want to buy objects in tuya wood, don't go to the big shop on the main place, but prefer the cooperative in the "arcades" in the walls of the town.

Irecommend also a walk in the area of Mellah, very colourful market.
