Nonkel. ..... and the Irish Sea ! Sadly, Guinness doesn't travel well : if you want to enjoy it at its best, you'll all have to come to Dublin ! Then I'd only be a two hour train journey away.

@zerega: the Duvel was just the first beer of the evening...we have beer in the US too (and not just Budweiser!)
@Steve L: John says to tell you a half a beer was too much for him!
As we say in the US, a good time was had by all!!
(Pictures from me when I get home next week).

Wow! This was a "subject" of which we can be jealous of! Meetings among fine Woophy members! Gent (and those who met there) is great, as so is Barcelona, is London, is Dublin (the only one I don't know yet; unforgivable; love U2, Irish in general, the cityscape...), and is Porto! We must think about this harder! Sometime around Easter holidays and then Summer, we could find those who were able to travel to one among 2 or 3 different cities to be proposed, which would be nearer to them (this to be realistic), and meet there (one only place would be ideal but we know it wouldn't be easy to match). We could open by Carnival, here in the Forum, a probing about the availability of those who could travel and where (and when). Just thinking loud...

It's a fantastic group that in really enjoy Woophy and which transmit us that spirit... I like very much these kind of ideas. Nice informal photos. The night shots are very well done.
I will go to organize a similar event here in Portugal (Porto). And the official drink will be the Super-Bock beer!

Fine, Paulo! You can find the bottle, by now, in a SJS pic! The flavour... here in Porto! It would be great to have here some of the most active members from everywhere, namely those who met in Gent. And here, the portuguese folks, we must be strong enough to convince Nonkel Duvel that he could be Nonkel Bock as well ;). You are welcome!!! (oh, I think I could get, for free, all the necessary bottles directly from the beer corporation of Super Bock;) ).
Greets to all of you!

Finally, some photos from me of our rainy but wonderful day in Gent.
Thanks for your patience, it's been busy since I returned to Boston. Other pictures from my trip have been posted, and there are more to come. Thank you again for the good times!
A group of us traveled down from the Netherlands on the train. It took us 3 hours, but we had a lot of laughs on the way. And that's what it's all about--FUN.
Nonkel Duvel had been promising me this demonstration for a long time!
Demo #1 -- the initial pour
Demo #2 -- keeping it steady!
Demo #3 -- at last! What do you mean YOU are going to drink it?! I thought that was MY Duvel.
The camera of one of our group almost got a whoopin' from John Cleese. No one told me Gent is dangerous! Or that I would see MOVIE STARS.
Gent was indeed gray, but beautiful in spite of it.
And besides, some people brought their umbrellas.
It even rained in the graffiti
.
But we still managed to meet some locals.
Who didn't seem to mind the rain enough to stay off their bicycles.
We dried out in a bar...or is that a contradiction?
Then we had a wholesome dinner of local specialties!
After that, we were fortified for more photography, and practiced our night shooting.
But then, we had to catch the tram. The day wasn't long enough!
And...say goodbye at the train station. Maybe next year!
