I live in Poole, in Dorset (England) and as far as the wildlife is concerned I am disapointed.
Whilst we have area's of glade, and banks of sand which attract the nesting birds, there is a blot on the horizon.
The blot being the fact that a minority of local youths set fire to the heath which kills the local wildlife.
The police have acquired special trikes to chase these criminals, but this has helped little, and I have found that the locals are afraid to tell the police in case the thugs turn their aggression on to their properties instead.
Vandalism in poole is certainly higher here than in the part of Essex that I used to live, and Poole council has done little to effectively deal with this problem.
This combined with the local drug and Alcohol abuse by the addicts, makes poole a less than frindly place to stay if you are interested in seeing the wildlife.
We only have a few miles of beaches which though they hold a Blue flag for cleansiness are not really that much to write home about.
However if you want wildlife, which are fairly easy to photograph in their natural enviroment, then Try Hampshire, where you can see deer, horses & ponies roaming the woods, and if you are lucky plenty of lizards, snakes etc etc.
So all you photographers out there head for Hampshire for a photograph session that you will not regret.
