I am one of those lucky people who are working world wide and able to see something beyond the regular. I have, however, noticed that the beauty might be right around your own back yard.
This picture is taken in a small forest 5 minutes from my house in Belgium. A lot of people believe that what comes from far is better... Think again.

you're so right MOMO....and ofcourse there are beautifull places in the world.....but very often people don't see the beauty at home or in their own garden...even at work you can see beautifull things.....
for example:
six times a week I pass this building when I go to work
just at the edge of the city were I live
underneath a stair in front of the local courthouse.

Recently I had to stay home for a while, being ill. Then I discovered some beautiful spots in my own neighbourhoud, I had never seen before:
I cherish the words of the famous photographer Frans Lanting, I heard on a lecture he gave: a good photographer should be able to take good picutres anywhere, not only in the most beautiful spots on earth.

Momo what a nice topic. You are so right that people sometimes forget how beautiful it is around home. But you did not see it if you living so long at one place.
I know when I go with my mountainbike I have to ride about 5 to 10 minutes and then I'am on the Veluwe. It is a beautifu piece of naturepark.

Most days I walk for about an hour in a circuit around my house
using connecting bush trails through nature reserves.
At any given point I wouldn't be more than 10 minutes from my home.
The trouble with taking photos in the bush is that they are either
over or under exposed depending on the sun through the trees.
Still it is a challenge. I took these photos this afternoon (Wednesday).

The mud hole becomes a beautiful lagoon when the tide comes in. The young Kauri tree is part of a regeneration programme. Once the entire northern forest was filled with these giants which when mature are the largest trees on the planet. Sadly they were all felled to make masts and spars for the Royal Navy and other uses of course. The gum made varnish and linoleum.

I agree with Ortho :D it seems to be a bit a wild place but I think a lot of people would like to have an similar house between trees !
I live in this village and all the next pic are taken from the top of the hill: view to the south (where I took the pic of the village)
view to the West
view to the East
