Hi to all of you! wouldn't bother you if it wasn't that I nearly cried when I saw that today.... am in ecuador now, and for the first time had pictures developed in Quito, in a Konica shop (i am still one of those who got no digital camera), while usually I am in the Amazon Basin, in Coca if anybody knows, in a fujifilm shop.
never had problems, just today those 2 films developed were really bad, the colors very very pale (don't know how to express it right - it's just you got nearly no colors on the pictures, it's all greyish-whitish - pale.
second problem, many of them look as if they've been scanned with a bad resolution - grainy / granular??? as if you would see the pixels...
never had those problems before, except for when the light conditions were really bad - but with those 2 films, there were many different conditions - starting from very bright (equator at noon) till very dark (party with nearly no light) so they should differ one from another!
The people at the photo shop told me that inside the camera, there's some kind of sensor that checks what ASA you use (mine are usually ASA 400) and if either the sensor of the camera or of the film are damaged or dirty, those bad pictures are the results. I saw other pictures developed at the same shop, and they were good actually.
still, I'm not sure whether the thing with the sensor is right. what worries me, is that it were 2 films (although the first is better than the second) which probably means that there's sth wrong with my camera.
whats written on it (no clue whether thats its name or whatever - no idea about any technical stuff as you see) - is Kyocera Yashica EZ, Zoom 105. bought it about 2 years ago.
does anybody of you know what the problem is - if the people in the shop were right, or is there another possibility as well????
any hints, tips, suggestions appreciated! thank you so much for your help!

To me it sounds like the film is gone bad. Maybe heat humidity or so.

good luck

please post a few shots...
sounds like overall underexposure... This results in Milky Blacks, Grain. Colorloss and lack of contrast as the machine tries to "print up" the underexposed picture to bring it back to a decent level...

oh yeah and i forgot:whats the temperature to store films? cause you know i'm in the ecuadorian amazon right now - it's pretty hot and humid here.... so i thought about putting films into the fridge when you posted your comment joris - but then this might be too cold????

basically it can't be cold enough to store your films. the colder it is, the better and the longer your films will maintain their quality. if you keep them stored for long time, deep freeze them. but then, let them warm up for at least two hours before using them. if you store them just for a few days or weeks, the fridge will do. however it's important not to open the small plastic container until you use the film. they are packed in a safe atmosphere so that humidity will not harm them. so: store as cold as possible, give the films some time to warm up, open the container and shoot...
