I did try my camera (Nikon D7000) on the low temperatures, -10, last week, for a considerable time, I did not protect the camera, because I was testing a new 64G 60Mb/s SD card on speed and cold. No problems, in fact I tried to fire my camera on 3x/sec on birds, Nikon did not let me down. it was working perfect and fast.
In general, you know the rules, no moist, rain, snow.... this is normal. If you go under -10, it might be a problem, keep you small camera IN your coat and your P500 in the case, only take it out when needed and do your camera settings before you go out (with cold hands its not easy to operate the small buttons)
And....enjoy Poland Hector

As a Norwegian living with winter half the year, I can tell you a thing about cold weather!... Nothing to be afraid of, but keep an extra battery in your front pocket. That´s all (One more thing. Going from the cold outside to the warm inside will set you on hold for a few minutes. Moisture sucks. )

Thanks friends, for you kindness, all your advise are very useful for me, I live in North of Spain and our low temperatures are (in a cold day) 3 or four degrees below zero, and during all winter between 0-5 degrees, so I don't know very well how I must do for take photos with very low temperatures. Thanks again friends

Hi, Amato! I think Cloudbuster told you two important things: extra battery fully charged, careful about great temperatures changes. Also the links from Christian are really helpful! I'd suggest in addition somethig that has nothing to do with cameras but with you: try to take with you those gloves that may have your fingers in or out. Enjoy Poland! See you in Madrid! Best regards M.

I always use one gove, put the camera around my neck and the other hand in the pocket. When I take a picture, my right hand is without gloves, doing the work and the left hand with glove is only to hold the camera. Because of hard working the right hand stays warm and goes back in the pcket as soon as possible. I think it is very important to take it easy. Give the camera time to acclamate. It is even more important by going from outside to inside. Have a very good time, hope it will be a nice temperature in Madrid.
