I am asking so many questions lately and not just on here but to myself.

I am in love with photography and i can never be shut up on the subject but i suffer from camera block.

I have to set myself projects, tasks to complete , i do series of photos last being the super hero portraits, yet i still crave to shoot more subjects.

So what do you like to do? Do you like to set a project or Just point and shoot at the nearest thing or do you like doing both?

Let woophy know what you like doing im interested to know.

Regards jonny

I like projects and series but I also like spontaneous shots. I think I could say I do the same amount of both.

When it comes to projects or series theyre usually brought on by inspiration from an emotion or a song, movie, book, boredom etc.

Some require a lot of set-up and others I just go out and keep my eye open for what im looking for.

my niece is the subject for most of my photos since I watch her during the day. But I also use certain friends regularly for other ideas.

cheers
lani

I do both. If I have my camera with me, I nearly always find something interesting enough to take a gamble on. I love the mistakes that work, the best of all. Not every shot is a winner maybe 1 in 20, maybe less, in 50!

I am working on my Biesbosch project for some time. I like to record the changes in nature over time, because more than 2000 hectares of premium quality agricultural land will be converted into "nature" as part of a river enlargement project carried out. See below for some further explanation about this topic. The Noordwaard is a series of polders that have been regained from the water after the St. Elisabeth flood in 1421. The southern part is still a fresh water estuarium: our National Park "The Biesbosch". The new "nature" will enlarge the Biesbosch considerably.

I posted a prelimenary results already in:

Sunsets are spectacular in this region.

The Noordwaard
The agricultural area Noordwaard will possibly be used for river enlargement. At first, the public authorities believed it was not realistic to use the Noordwaard for river enlargement before 2015. During an interactive process the Noordwaard obtained a more and more prominent position in a set of river enlargement projects to be completed before 2015. In this interactive approach great importance was given to interests of farmers and other inhabitants of the area. A confidence relation arose. This made it possible that the people, directly affected by the consequences of the river enlargement, do understand and, in a certain form, support the plan. This support has influenced the different public authorities. Due to climate change more precipitation is expected in Western Europe. Moreover the sea level will probably rise substantially in the course of the century. The consequence is higher extreme high water levels in the river that vary from place to place. A high water level rising of 35 centimeters at short term and more than 1 meter at long term is expected. The dikes would have to be heightened more than one meter. Nevertheless dikes can still break, whilst the consequences of an inundation increase. Besides, the necessary space to heighten or strengthen dikes is not always available along the rivers. The government therefore has decided to adopt another strategy. To prevent higher high water levels, river enlargement will be used where possible. Before 2015 a set of river enlargement projects must be implemented to assure that a discharge of 16.000m3/s through the Rhine and 3.800m3/s through the Meuse can pass safely. In an interactive process together with representatives of public authorities and interest groups the local river enlargements to be considered were determined. The open and interactive working method resulted in support for a set of river enlargement projects. River enlargement in the Noordwaard is one of these possible projects. If the river enlargement Noordwaard is carried out, dikes will no longer protect an agricultural area of 2050 hectare. This has important consequences for 75 households of which 26 farming households. In the new situation the area is less suitable for the present intensive agricultural use. Due to the river enlargement in the Noordwaard the opportunities for recreation and nature in the national park Biesbosch will increase.

My camera is allways with me in a red bag on my back. I sometimes set missions before leaving the house. Yesterday was "shooting a bumblebee-day" Coming weekend will be "show depth-weekend" (Geoffreys pictures has inspired me.)
Sometimes it's mission-day, but as I said the camera is allways with me!

Looking for a misson Johnny?
Go, shoot a "ghost"!

Congratulations Jonny.
You realy did a great job.
I wish I learn that kind of thinks some day.

I though the forum was how you take your pictures. I like to tell somethinh about that.
I always have my camera with me and I also have a cellphone wich kan produce a good quality of pictures.
Mostly I take pictures of the children at school. I cannot post them, because of their privacy.

When I go to my work by car I often see a picture passing by. When there is no car on my bumper and a bit space I can stop and take the photo. But it often happens I cannot stop. Very often I am not able to stop and I have to wait for another time. The picture with the sunrays trough the trees took me about five years. At te moment I made the picture (at the end of our street) I just stopped my car and everybody had to wait until I shoot my pictures.
They all smiled about it, nobody became angry.

The picture I took from the woman in the church was another story. We were quit impressed by the beauty of the cathedral in Granada, there were two organs, and my husband he is an organfool. So he took the camera and started taking pictures of the organ. Then I saw the woman. This fat lady took a sprint to her husband, took the camera, sprinted back and made the picture. I just saw the photo walking in. It all happened in a split second. He had the camera back befor he could brease. And most surprising, there is only the lady on the picture and it was very crowdy in that church. Such an experience can make you very happy.

Sometimes you get inspired by other woophymembers. I had seen the pictures from flyer about the orangemania in the streets of Holland. In the electronicshop I was served by a person who had cut Holland in his hair. When zI walked out of that shop I looked at all the others and made pictures of a lot of orangemadness. (Dutch culture)

I discovere also that a lot of pictures have the same theme and I didn't know at first. So I saw that a lot of pictures I made this winter has to do something with colours. But I didn't realize it at first.

Sometimes I make a whole serie, but that is to learn how things work.

I hope I gave a bit of an answer on your question.

I like it to read how other woophyians think about it.

Greetings and regards. Trudy.

Yer sorry Trudy i digressed from my subject, but i do need to do competitions and tasks as it helps me improve in my processing skills which i am trying to master.

I really love doing portraits and have been using different techniques but i love just point and shoot too.

After setting up my last 3 threads i thought id go to derbyshire to take some landscapes, but after id traveled 30 miles set my tripod up and got the position i wanted i realised my batteries were still in my charger 30 miles away.

i had done two photos a long time ago where i set out to do something minimalistic with paper.

This was my first one, the paper abstract:

here is a quick snapshot(different white balance) of one of the setups:

its just strips of paper that i had cut up of same length and taped to whatever shaped i found appealing than put a low watt bulb inside a box covered with a cloth, i had also tried different color cloths and also tried covering the bulb with a colored cloth and then covering the box with one for different intensity of colors etc. The end result was that first image.

the second photo I had done was with an egg and paper.

here is another quick snapshot:

i had rolled a piece of paper like a cone and placed an egg in the middle. I tried various papers of differing thickness and texture. I had used natural light as the back light and a light directed towards the bottom of the egg and one filling within the cone. There were some slightly differing compositions as of how the corner of the paper appeared and in the end i chose this one.

@ John,

maybe its an idea, to challenge Wooophians just before the weekend starts and set out a subject to be photographed. And after the weekend on monday upload 1 pic on the subject.
I usually need some goal, or a challenge. Allthough being on Woophy inspires enough. Lately I've been asked to work as a photographer, and so I go once every two weeks and follow a buildingsite. (which is very interesting). But it helps to get another view and gives me a drive to go out and take more pics.

But I'm up for a challenge this weekend, anyone else?

Greetings Leon
