Hello everyone,
I am thinking of buying a 35mm film SLR. Need some help choosing one. I am very impressed with Leica R9, but it is way out of my budget. I did like the features of minolta maxxum 9. I am not sure if i can transfer the exposure details on my PC. Whereas this feature is available with Canon EOS 1v Pro model. Buit this camera will be too much for an amateur.
I am confused. Need some help. Can anyone suggest which camera to buy at amateur level.

Shreyas, no doubt: Canon EOS 3!!! Still alive! I own 2 of them and they are half way between amateur and pro! Just see it here: http://www.canon-europe.com/For_Home/Product_Finde r/Cameras/SLR/EOS_3/index.asp In India it doesn't appear anymore (I had a look ), but still here in Europe! They are absolutely one of the best from Canon! Good luck... and decision! Best regards from Porto, Portugal, Miguel

Hi, Shreyas!
Well, it's indeed a great buy!!! (hehehe, as a Canonist I'dn't buy it ever! But I believe you did a great job, I guess).
Now, the most important, do enjoy it and your lenses (?).
Hugs from Porto, Portugal, Miguel

Spend your F4 some top lenses, they're so ridiculous cheap on e-bay nowadays. I procured film size Nikkor lenses in the 800+ Euro range for under 100 Euros.
Together with a good film scanner and software that allows for multi exposure scanning to extract the full dynamic range of film you still achieve much better quality in the 50 to 100 ASA range than any digital stuff. At least for a few years to come.
And you can't beat watching original slides VERY BIG on a wall. There won't be any consumer priced 5000 x 3500 pixel digital projectors any time soon if ever.
