In my opinion, there are two types of photo's. The orchestrated photo and the spontaneous picture. While I'm often on the road (mostly somewhere in remote places) it happens often that you see a great shot. Even oftener you'll say, "I'll wait for a better spot" or it can be difficult to stop or what so ever. It is my experience to stop while you can and not to wait for a better opportunity. Very often these opportunities don't come and the situation is gone.

This photo was taken in end October and the conditions where just right. When we drove on, 1o minutes later, the clouds where gone, the sun came through and it changes the whole scenery. This picture will never come again. And if so... then take a better. If not, at least you don't regret that you missed the moment. I missed already to much of these moments.
Good luck, M0M0

MoMo you are right, we too often miss the best moment to take a pic while waiting for a better one (like we do in real life). Two of my best rated pics are spontaneous pics:
Few minutes later, the fog was dissolved by the sun and you could only see an ordinary valley with a lot of trees.
This cute slender-tailed meerkat was disturbed by loud visitors in the zoo and disappeared right after showing this meaningful glance.

My specialty is Butterflies, hard enough, but when your subject is letting you know its own fleeting interest, I Hope for you, your camera is ready.

This picture is taken right before my house, I was watching the TV, looked outside and noticed the strange light. Grabbed my camera and took the picture, that turned out to be one of my best till now.

This shot was taken in a split second. It was my second on a trip to China, we had just arrived and were waiting in front of the hotel when I noticed this huge billboard at the other side of the street. The second time I looked these kids were passing by. The contrast was great and fortunately my camera was hanging on my shoulder............

I knew the farmer planted rape- or coleseed on this field and my intention was to come back when the seed had grown and..... there had to be soft evening light for the more saturated colours....so I did.....

this one was taken in a split second....

MoMo I couldn't agree more - particularly in our changeable Irish climate ! This was taken on Saturday ( 26.04.2008 ), during a sunny spell. Today, it was raining !

We've had too much rain lately. Two days ago a hole appeared in the clouds, right where the Sun was setting. I got may camera wet, but it survived.
