Portugal has for the first time a 3th place prize in the biggest photojournalism competition in the world, photographer Miguel Lopes Barreira, from Record Newspaper has really made me proud.

Check out whether the World Press Photo Award best-of show come to your town. The large museum-quality prints hanging on walls have so much impact than the small images on their web sites. In Germany they usually show it at selected railway stations for two weeks each.

I am a huge fan of this competition, and have all the books since 2001, I live at 16Km from a town that has for about 3 months a full exhibition of WPP since 2004 and I NEVER miss one. Almost all the photos are simply unbeliveble.
And this year seing this amazing picture from a portuguese photographer, as to me a special meaning.
