Good work for the first right one, it's really much better. About the second one, it's seems too manipulated, too contrasted, just my opinion.

Jonni, I agree with Christian, though I think just a bit less contrast in the 2nd one would do great too!
But mainly keep on getting fun with it! ;)
Best regards,

Hi Gumpyman...
Before commenting on aesthetics, I have to say that the one advantage of using this software is that it turns basically unusable and relatively flat photos and turns them into, at the very least, digital art, and also into very interesting photographs.
Of the two photos, I like the top one (after manipulation) better, perhaps because it looks less manipulated and more realistic. The bottom one is more of an art piece than a photograph (there's nothing wrong with that!).
All the best

i see what your all talking about on the last photo. I watched this film called pans labyrinth which was very dark and abstract i wanted to try create it . but can see how dark it is and think ive over done it. do have 5 versions of this but not gonna bore you with them all.
thanks for your kind comment and good criticism

The first one is really good! But I think that picture is better to begin with!
And BTW Pans Labyrith was a very nice movie! Would apael to a lot of people who are interested in beautifull visuals!

Hi, I like both manupelated pict, sometimes it's nice to play with a photo and this ones are a good example of the effect.
But I also think we have to let it by a play somewhile.

Hi grumpyman!
The first one is really great... good work!. But I agree with some others that the second is a little bit confussing. It would be better IMO less depth of field (it is unlikely that you can arrange this already) and also less contrast and not to crop it so much (this surely you can arrange), to have a better perspective. Anyway I like the second also, even if it's a little bit messy.
Greetings!

well jonny
you wanted to create a effect a bit like in this movie.. congrats, that you have done! :-)
my personal taste its not, don't be confused about it. taste is with every person dfferent. if i had to chose one of both i would take the first one too. because it is a little bit less manipulated.
i have a few pictures witch aren't become good enough. so i was very disappointed about it and played around with filters in PS.. i found one who look like a comic after the treatment and i suddenly liked it! :-) but its not a fotografie anymore in eyes anymore.. thats why i did not upload them..

Hi jonny, I quite agree with bunny (moderator) and feel the first one is quite acceptable after the manipulation through lack critical sharpness.
The second one could look very graphic if you try to desaturate the colours i.e. converting it to black and white....IMHO the little tinge of colours make the picture look mossy and algae-covered and over-saturated. Try the b/w and lighten up the mid-tone to bring in more mid-range detail and texture.
