First of all I have to say that I love this Forum!!! Are you kidding?... exchanging thoughts about photgraphy instead of motorcycles!!! I do need to walk away from the laptop however!!! (we camp in very isolated area in the US but travel with my own Internet Dish! it is called "freedom"...).
I picked up on a very nice comment about this picture...
... objecting however at the post-production manipulations. I agree. This is basically the same picture without it..
The subject truly is, as I had another nice comment about this picture also...
"how much difference will a picture make when one knows its history... its moment...?"
I have left a brief description of the Father and Son walking through the cemetery... it was not just any walk... It was the first time after 50 years or so that the Father has been back to this little town of Terlingua, he was born here when the Chisos Mines where still open, he looked and found the graves of his past family... a very emotional weekend... now that you know the story... does the picture have more appeal?
The same with the 2 first pictures... same era... the celebration of the "Day of the Dead"... a Mexican Holiday, but a HAPPY one... (I have written more about it on my website), music... food... offerings... celebrating the Spirits... and now knowing the story... the locals included prefered the first picture because it depicts some ghostly image... the Spirits... but without knowing the story, maybe the second picture is better...
I am suddenly dumfounded at the two theories...
~ do some pictures need the knowledge of the moment for their value..
~ or should a picture be only as they say "worth a thousand words"...
I hope this all makes sense!!!
Be well... Ara & Spirit
