Hi,
I'm travelling overseas in January and was looking at buying a new Canon EOS 30D and was wondering if it was worth waiting to see if I can get it cheaper.
I'm travelling to Dubai, Hong Kong and Bangkok. The cheapest I can find in the United Kingdom is £642.
Does anybody know prices from any of these other countries? or give any advice in buying overseas.
Thanks.....

If you have it sent as a package to your homecountry check import custom duties and VAT before!

I have bought several small accessories from Hong Kong and have not had problems regarding import duty and VAT shipped into the UK. The parcels have just come via normal parcel post and have been delivered to my door by our own "Royal Mail". The postal prices from Hong Kong suppliers seem to be very reasonable and the purchase prices for items is far less than here in the UK even for branded named items such as genuine Fuji accessories, but then we pay through the nose for just about everything here. I cant believe the price differences between USA and UK and between Hong Kong and UK. Its mind blowing at times as we seem to be paying the same in pounds Sterling what the US is paying in Dollars. I know there is some import and tax from the US but it still works out far cheaper. The main problem with buying overseas is of course aftercare and repairs if things go wrong. I still think we Brits are sometimes taken for a ride by retailers and manufacturer's. Just mention the words "Photographic Equipment" and the retailers and manufacturer's have a big smile on their faces all the way to the banks.
