Hi Diederik
I have got a Canon 10D (forerunner of the 30D) and was very happy with it. I upgraded to the 5D a few months ago.
I suggest, if you have not done so already, that you look on DPReview for detailed reviews of both cameras. Only you can decide which is best for you. It would be ideal if it was possible to borrow/hire these cameras for a few days.
The one thing to take into account is the upgrade path for both camera's. If you buy Canon and no EF-S lenses (which are suitable only for cameras with a sensor that is not full frame) you will have an upgrade pathe to the 5D or 1D series which have full-frame sensors. Nikon currently do not have a camera with a full frame sensor.

In a followup to Ruud's post,
I had the Canon 20D, which is exactly similar to the 30D, except fot the size of the preview screen and the shooting speed. As for your choices, both cams are probably great. You might also consider the 20D though, as it's quite a bit cheaper then the 30D.
If you have a certain budget (and can afoord the D200, which is quite expensive compared to the 20/30D), you might be better off buying the cheaper cam but adding one or two good lenses. Those would help you a lot more with your photography then an expensive cam with a crappy lens...

You could also consider the Fuji S3 Pro, which is compatible with Nikon lenses. It used to be quite expensive but some Dutch resellers have it on offer at a considerable discount nowadays.

thanks for your comments. I have indeed compared them already on DPReview. And i do have a limit, but it might be enough to buy the D200. I don't know a lot about lensen, but i could get a 2 months old AFS DX 18-70 f/3.5-4.5G lens with the D200. Is that good enough? Or would you suggest the 30D with a better lens?

In "Foto-Video" nummer 01/2006 there is a test of the D200 compared with the Canon 5D. The test panel calls the Nikon D200 the "ideal camera".

Oh yeah, for comparison the Canon 5D costs Euro 2600, the Nikon D200 around Euro 1500. The Canon 350D is about Euro 800.

Thanks for the comments again! I finaly made my disicion. The best thing was indeed to go to the shop, feel both camera's in your hands and make some pict. After seeing the results i decided to go for the Nikon D200. Next week ill get it and i can't wait!!
