I think FF cameras are becoming the equivalent of what medium format has been in film. And medium-format digital cameras (even fuller frame) are becoming the equivalent of what large format has been. Check out this link.

mmh, i just went to look around for those cameras... the canon EOS 350 fitts good into my hands ;-) but i discovered an offer for a Nikon D70s witch is less expensive then the canon... i'm not sure anymore what to do, i could take a few pictures with it and a liked it very much! what do you (especially Wilfred) think? the cheapest offer for the canon was about 150.-€ more then that special offer for the nikon. (still a lot off money, i live in a expensive country!)

I have a Nikon D70s and like it a lot. It's my only digital camera.
But I found the Canon 350D too small for my hands.
If the offer for the Nikon includes the 18-70mm 3.5-4.5 kit lens I can recommend it. For a kit lens, this lens is very good and very sharp, although it produces quite a lot of barrel distortion at 18mm.

Bunny, did you already look in the countries around you, such as italy, germany or france? Perhaps it is worth the trip, or at least it is when you can combine it with a visit to a foreign country.
I know for myself , as a belgian, that is sometimes profitable to cross the border and go shopping in the netherlands or in germany...

no nivad i didnt look in those countrys. i'm very close to italy but i don't understand the language and honestly i dont trust the garanties there. what if something is wrong with my camera? i have to go back there..i'm more comfortple with my own country ar at least my language. but germany is 3 hours away and if i count the way it doesnt worth it i think. the offer i got is in comparing to the cheapest offer at the internet (switzerland) only a few francs over. less then 20.- . so i think its not bad. it includes even a 3 year garantie.
for other things i also go sometimes to italy for shoping... so, i understand very well what you mean ;-)
thank you for the advise anyway

The 350D didn't really fit well into my hands
I have large hands too and the 350D really didn't fit well...however, when you do add the battery grip, it feels and looks like the professional 1D model. :-)
I've been a 350D user for over a year and I have to say that after I made the investment, I've been a happy camper ever since. Now as to lenses, here are my suggestion:
1. The kit lens (17-55mm) is a pretty good lens for the house, birthday parties, events where there are a lot of people mashed up in a little itty-bitty space
2. A prime (read fixed) lens (50 or 85 mm) with an opening of f1.4 to 1.8. for weddings and fashion shoots where there is very little light and lots of movement
3. A good zoom (80-200mm or 70-300mm) for those close-up shots that you've always wanted to take but were afraid to ask the subject to come any closer :-)
Plus make sure that one of them has macro capability so that whenever that itch comes around to take that REALLY close-up shot of a flower/bug/foreign object, then you should have every imaginable situation covered.
Have fun taking photos with your new camera.
