Several topics deal with "content inappropriate images" of many members.

Just to mention flowers, pets, etc.

I can understand that these subjects do not represent necessarily a typical space on this earth, but if this is required, this should perhaps be more clearly pronounced.

So my question: What kind of subject do we want to see on Woophy and what should not be shown?

Thanks for your opinion.

Almost everything could be shown except advertisments, porn, political propaganda, stolen and gory images.

The issue is, how to sort all images in a way, so that woophy users, especially ...

- new users, who are trying to get a first impression of woophy and
- users, who want to get an impression of an area and therefore browsing the map and click at the city dots to see what this place looks and feels like

... are shown significant images first, that are those which are a good representation of this place. That may include flowers and pets, of course, but not in such a magnitude like it is at some places now. Fact is, flower and kitten shots receive many many more comments and highers ratings and thus are very prominent on woophy.

I regularily invite people to have a look at woophy and maybe upload some of their own images here. They had a look and some of them got a too high a dose of flowers and cats. Many said, well, ... rather not. (The other issue was the "club" thing of "I scratch your back, you scratch my back" which is endemic of many photo sites and which we hopefully are resolving soon.)

And just as if to illustrate my point I was shocked again to see two of my favourites photographers have left in the last month and quite a few favourite photos missing. What a pity.

Maybe it's an idea to introduce a mission statement on the homepage? Now the most prominent thing is the map, but not what Woophy is all about...

Erwin, I agree with Zerega * and also think, like Joris Vleuten that a "Enter" page, before seeing the map, would be useful with a well noticed mark to the rules ans goals of Woophy.

On what "ratings" and "scratching backs" [ ] matters, and though with a few inconvenients that some could point, I think two main "rules" should be established:
1. No rating without comment allowed
2. No anonymous rating allowed (the most uncomfortable situation nowadays, at Woophy, will it be for a couple - or more - "5"s that put the pic up, not perceptible from where they come, will it be for a few couple of "1"s or "2"s just for provoking).

Another issue: members would be strongly advised to put tags . Why not, to help, to create a special page with easy access, with some dozens of the most common tags to be marked and enter directly to the caption space of each picture to be uploaded? Or, at least, to be "copied and pasted" to there?

* specifically: "Almost everything could be shown except advertisments, porn, political propaganda, stolen and gory images."
"are shown significant images first, that are those which are a good representation of this place. That may include flowers and pets, of course, but not in such a magnitude like it is at some places now. "

I do not agree with Miguel*s 1. because my comment can be YES, NO, Y, N, or 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.
If not, how many words at minimum? how many lines? That doesn't works.
I think that IF YOU VOTE YOU HAVE TO SHOW IT
or
NO VOTES, ONLY COMMENTS.

Zeeg, Miguel, Joceps, Joris, Erwin ...all of you have a point here....the non established site contents/rules and the present rating system is causing lots of bitterness....

Where to draw the line on what shall be allowed and what shall not be allowed?

In the field of portraits for instance....

I see how Asian/ and some South American faces/portraits are so appreciated and well rated...and what about white faces? Just because they are common in Europe and north America, and not so exotic...shall them also be added to the category of non welcome pictures, together with pets and flowers? In Panoramio you can post people's portraits, but they wouldn't be placed on the world map and they won't be accepted in the contests...

Or should Woophy be 100% travel oriented....landmarks, landscapes, seascapes, etc....and places to visit, places to eat, places to sleep??? No flowers, no pets, no portraits!!!

Would help to have specific and clear guidelines.

7 people disappeared from my favorite photographers list in the past 2 months...I also noticed that many other active people in the past, just decided not to upload pictures anymore...

I really hope that the "Woophy Improvements" will make Woophy a better place!

A big headache and challenge for JORIS in the near future ! I wish him good luck!

Hi Laura,
I agree with your views, specially - to make it short - with the emergency to implement new and clear rules. Otherwise we will carry on seeing the best photographers leaving or stopping uploads. See the example I have pointed at - my post on the 1st July URL a good example of dysfunction due too this lack of rules (no limitations in uploads, downrating etc...)

Last point , you're making a confusion between zerega and myself, but I really don't mind given I appreciate a lot zerega's work and I also share his point of view
