In the past I used a drawing effect on a few pics I made. I printed those pics on common paper, and it looked great, just like a true drawing. I used the »drawings« for presents for those who were photographed and it was always a big success. Just a few days ago I was fulling around with one of my photos »down by the river«, and I came on to an idea that it would be nice to ad some »true« parts of the photo on a drawing. I was thrilled with the experiment and I like the result wery much. I know that those things a mostly the metter of taste, but I would really like to see your opinions and maybe also some of your pics which are intersting manipulated .

Three little kittens playing; the original photo is one of my favorites but it was unnoticed here on woophy, so I decided to try with the same tehnique as with the previous one.

Hi Lali, I like the grafic effect on the first one very much although I'm not such a fan of this effect. IMHO as a comic book fan, a drawing has to have been drawn
The second one looks a bit odd to me as if the kitten is wounded.

I think I've allready commented your top picture. Very good, but i agree with Martin about the cat. I aslo thought it looked like it was wounded until I studied the picture. Not so lucky with it imo, but the top one went into my favourites.

Very nice effect in the first one. Like it very much. Good idea to combine drawing with reality.

Very good idea, like the first picture with the mixture of drawing and a small part of real picture.

Hi Lali I agree withthe others, the first one is very good, but the cats I don't like at this way.

But the picture of the cats has very strong potential. I like it very much, let's say it is still a work in progress. Remove the "wound", apply the effect to the other paw and to the ear of the cat in the foreground, and I bet it will be a hit!

@everybody thank you, you've all been very helpful. I am very proud that the first picture got so many positive critiques. And I am amazed how blind can an author sometimes be; becouse I know that pic of kittens so well, l Iwould never thought that the paw could look like a wound, and I must admit that I still can not see that, it looks a bit to aggressivly real to me and that is it. I apreciate your reviews very much! Now I will delete those cats from my portfolio and folow the wise advice of TBM. The only thing that bothers me is that than there be red x instead of picture but that's the way it is. Just another question, maybe a bit odd but anyway; do you think that a series of pics in that tehnique would be to much for my woophy collection ? I know that a lot of people actually do not like the use of effects but I became rather enthusiastic about it...

you can always try and if it doesnot work you can remove them, why not. I like at your first picture, i like it very much, and i am sorry i cannot see the other, because you removed it. I have no idea of that picture now. Just give it a try, nothing can happen. The comments only can help to become an even better photographer. And you made very good pictures untill now.

Hi Lali, the cats are better now, but IMO the paw is stil a bit disturbing because all other lines lines are soft. The one of the child is beautiful. Can you tell what technique it is? Regards Dieuwertje

And here are some of my X-files!
I am working on a series of pics of "marina houses in Liguria", heavily photoshopped. I have printed them in large format (50x70) and they look great that way (seeing them on screen is not the same thing...). The colours and the details (the windows, the people, the drying laundry etc.) are well highlighted by the effect. I'd like to know your opinion.
Strange to say, I've made them for the same reason Martin won't like them: because they look like a comic strip...

@ Lali. I like the second version of the cats very much, i like the picture with the child also.
@TBM. In this version it looks a lot like a photo, i think very large it is more like a painting. I think when you are working this way with pictures your more an artist then a photografer.
I like these results. But I have not made up my mind about were taking pictures stops and making paintings starts, and i am still not sure what to think about it.

Lali, Hi! Looks like you've inspired a lot of people here! My experiment, but I've only used software. (Yeah. I'm cheating! )

@Dieuwertje; it is nothing special, I just turn the photo in to a drawing with the use of special effect and then I add the »true« parts of the photo.
@TBM; Fantastic colours, really very beautiful….great effect
@Trudy; I think that all photographers are artists, for me to photograph means to make art
@Vidar; I must admit that I am not quite shure what you meant with »I only used software«, didn't we all …and to be honest, I think you'll have to put a bit more effort in to this experiment
