Visiting the Rotterdam zoo, I took a aquarium picture. Now I see my daugthers face, between the reflection of my hands. Not on purpose, a lucky shot. Who has more "lucky"shots ?

Hi Joop,
Nice topic. A few years ago I was on holliday in Scotland. (Nice country by the way. I can recommend too all off you). I was visiting an old church/cathedral when suddenly in a house nearby the graveyard off this church I saw (by coïncidence) this young women in the window. She was wearing (as you can see) a weddingdress. She saw me and laughed. On that moment I took this pic. An half hour later arrived in this old church the family, the priest, ... and she said "Yes, I do" !!

Quiet an happy story hé?

The "lucky" part is the heron just at the right spot in the compo. My camera (Nikon 8800) is very slow so I cannot control that.

I was shooting this fly...

... And just after she took of, I saw a spider catching fly...

... Of course, I don't know if it was the same fly, but I know that I was more lucky than this poor little animal, !!!

Oh yes, I feel so lucky today.

Here is my " lucky " picture. My brother and I were wandering around the Vigeland Sculpture Park in Oslo, taking pictures. This statue, one of the more famous, showing a child's temper tantrum, was being photographed by bus-loads of jostling tourists. I was waiting for the crowds to move on, and allow me to select the best angle, etc. Suddenly, a young mother stopped in front of the statue, and held her child up to have a better view. As she did so, the child reached out her hand - and I was already in position to capture the moment !

I consider so many shots of imen pure luck, because we are talking about once-in an-eternity moments, right place right time, or the camera seeing what the eye can't see. 2 examples: Vasco da Gama Bridge, lit up for 1st January. Driving, watching it for about 6 kms, decide to stop and shoot, as I happen to hav tripod in the car boot. Park car nearby, edge of the park which is in total darkness. Advance, shooting. I see a rise in the ground, a black hape in the darkness and climb it, about 3 metres. When I get to the top, I realise it is a kind of water-tank (why, I don't know) I see this perfect, astonishing reflection of the bridge, sunk in the tank and all invisible from the ground level below. What's more, it had rained over the previous days - I've since seen it empty many times. Best of all, with no wind & the surface protected by the sides of the tank, the reflection remains still. Result? Lucky. There are others, but I only posted this one. This second is probably my favourite 'lucky' of all, because it obviously caould never be seen by the naked eye. What a surprise I got when I uplooaded the SD card onto the pc! It a poetic statement of pigeons dancing around the early rising sun. People have sent me brilliant, magic poems written for it in 3 French, Spanish 6 Portuguese, which I have translated into English, available on request (name your language): Now that's what I call lucky!
Hugs.

This picture was taken on my 100th dive, the same day i finished my divemaster course. I Jumped in the water with my camera after days of doing skills etc and craving for some new pictures, when a pod of about 20 dolphins came to play with us and stayed for about 20 min in the area. How lucky is that???? and this two decided to pose and give me a big smile!!!!!
