Hi all!
I've taken some photos of a young girl after her parents request.
Before I deliver all the photos to the parents, I need your help. Some of the photos are similiar to each other, but maybe one is better than another. (Or worse...)
Feel free to give me any tips, hints, help or even a kick in my teeth. It all counts.
It was a very low and very sharp sun but hopefully some of the pictures looks nice.
Best Regards
Vidar

@ Vidar
Sorry to be that frank to you, but IMO none of the pxs is very good. Alle recognizable photos have a similar facial expression. A bit sad or tired or uninterested. I think that you didn't had a good "contact" with your model. And changing that to B&W doesn't alter that much.
I have some sympathy for number 5 because here the girl is a bit different. The light is so-so but it's a good px because you accentuate her (sorry: only ) beauty viz. her eyes, when they are open. Good almond like shapes. In this px she looks more happy..

Vidar its difficult to get a perfect photo when its set up . i find the better photos come from relaxed sessions i have gone for walk in park the coffee shop and as we've just chatted ive snapped away . you have a good model there but you really have to make a connection so my advice is make another shoot with her make her laugh chat to her get her expressions moving you will see a whole different out look in your photos if you do.
i dont like studios as i feel tied in so you have right atmosphere just need to loosen up and make her feel relaxed as in the pictures she looks to stiff.
hope this helps sorry for being negative just think you'd be more happier with photos if you did it like i suggest .
i always think (RELAXED MODEL = SUPERB PORTRAITS)

I don't mind at all. :-)
This may be the picture i like the most of all the pictures I've taken. I've actually hung a 50x70 cm framed picture on my wall.
It is a lot easier with this boy since he is my son, but it took some time before i got to this point.
I'll work more with the girl in the other photos. Try to make her relax, talk a lot more to her, and see how it goes. i will also wait until the light is much better. Maybe clouded.
Thank you for your help!

It's obvious you chose a bad moment to do that shoot Vidar, but so what, just do it over, with the gear you got you must be able to get much better results.
I'm just an amateur myself, so take my advice for what it's worth. You don't have to wait for a cloudy day, rather put your model in the shadow, don't be afraid to experiment with firing your flash outside, keep some distance from the girl and zoom in on her, control the dof with the aperture, keep the focus on her eyes, avoid details in the background unless they are functional to the picture, don't stick to the presets of your camera, just try and learn, get in control of the camera yourself.

@Bluesbuster
Thank you! Excellent tips and encouragement!
I do have a very good flash, but I've not been a fan of using it unless I'm inndoors. I'll give it a shot the next time and try the flash. I've talked to the model and her family, and we'll give it another try a little later this spring. More hours of light, and less stress.
I do at least one thing right. ;-) I never use presets. :-)
Thank you very much!
