TBM asked me something about one of my photos and in my answer to him I told him (among other things) that the girl on the photo is my daugther.
In a joke he replied : »Your daughter? That means that when your little one falls, instead of helping her you take pictures? YOU MONSTER! :-D«
And the truth is that this is exactly what I was thinking in the very moment I took a shot.
I was taking pictures of her and she ran towards me and fell, normaly I do not make panic about falls, just talk to her in a calm voice and help her if necessary,.....that day I took a shot first, it was in a second but way to long second...yes, I was thinking to myself, what kind of a mother am I....
I belive, that when she ll grow up, she will apreciate that such documents of her childhood exists... but I also know that every time I will see that photo those unpleasent fillings will awake.. a bit..
So, dear Woophy members, I am certain that some of your pictures also carries such strong fellings and thoughts hidden behind them, maybe even stories…please, do share them with us.
(Sorry for bed English knowlage!)

Lali. What a dilemma ! I suspect that TBM's comment was made humourously - at least, I hope so. This is a lovely picture of the kind of incident every Woophy member who is ( like me ) a parent has experienced. Most of us are not clever enough to take a picture - and, therefore, to miss a good opportunity for our children to look back on the " real life " of their childhood as well as the pretty posed images. So - don't be ashamed, or guilty. I'm sure your daughter had forgotten about her fall within hours, and will - later - thank you for this picture.
Regards
Geoff. ( Geoffrey McElwaine)
P.S. Your English is great : no need to apologise !

Hi Lali!
I think that this topic is very original and interesting, but I also think that it's very difficult to get many other pictures with such strong feelings as yours. The story behind your picture is simple but touching. Anyway, don't feel guilty at all, I'm sure that she would not cry after falling if you were not there! Kids are like this...
I didn't find any picture comparable with yours, but anyway I want to make my contribution to this nice topic with two pictures of the most important thing for me in my life...
Here you are, MY FAMILY:
Bear Hugs!!

Hoi Lali,
First of all. I don't know you. Never met you. But when I see your picture but most of all what I read from you, I know for shure you are good mother, a good person. I am shure that when your child would have fallen very seriously you wouldn't took the picture and helped her first.
The picture wich I wanted the share with you all is taken last year in Vietnam. I went there with a friend of mine who goes there each year for the governement. He took me to places where they neve saw a stranger. I saw poverty right in the eyes.
The picture beneath is a cropped one, because there where little children naked on it. I wasn't shure to put it her completly. My intentions are pure and good. I am a father off childeren myself. But I don't wanted any discussions about it so I cropped it.
Lali, on that moment I was lucky knowing I have a good job and food whenever I want. But I felt me so small. My heart was bleading seeying those kids. Dirty, a few with no clothes, hungry, parents not there, I was hurt. Almost crying. I was helpless.
I think this shot was for me the most emotional thus far.
Now I know it is good showing this too others. It 's good showing poverty, showing misery, war, ... so we can all see that the world is not always right, not always good, ... so we can help it change. Bit by bit, step by step.
I hope one day. I have a dream ...
Thanks Lali for this topic and the chance too share my feelings with you all.
Grtz, Rik.

@Geoffrey, thank you for your response and supporting thoughts. Of, course TBM was joking, I know that, but my fillings were like they were.
@Ruden, I appreciate your post very much and I think that the photos you have chosen are quite suitable for this forum. But, I must say that I do not agree with you that there is not many pictures with such strong feelings as mine, Rick is a living proof. The main problem of this topic is the journey in to yourself and sharing and revealing such intimacy with others.
@Rick, you just made me speechless; thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with us, respect.

@Lali: Completely agree with you...you said this better than me: the main problem of this topic is the journey in to yourself and sharing and revealing such intimacy with others I just wanted to point that probably there won't be much responses to this thread, just because of this.
(By the way, I made a lot of pictures with a very hard emotional story behind in Auszwitz. You can see them in my collection or in the forum http://www.woophy.com/forum/index.php?action=vthread&forum=9&topic=279 4, only I'm not posting them again here because it's not the best place, I think)
@Rick: Thank you for sharing... not only the picture but also the feelings... keep on dreaming Rick!

Thank you Lali for this very interesting topic.
After Rik's beautiful story, here is a simpler one.
A couple of years ago me and my family went to Rome for Xmas. We went to visit St Peters, and there I made a new picture... thanks to Mr. Osama Bin Laden.
The reason is this.
Worried about the risk of terroristic attacks, Italian authorities sometimes reinforce controls on people entering public buildings or places of popular interest. This may hamper the access to the most important monuments. As in this case, when the queue of people waiting to visit the church was long as half of the square.
While my wife and son decided whether joining the queue or not (you can see them in the right corner, low) I took the picture (actually, it's two pics stitched togheter). So we can say that a terrorist alert caused me to take a picture I never dreamed of...
I should add that the queue did not take so much time, after all.

@Ruden, unfortunately, as you know well, our world is not fiiled up just by cute animals, beutiful flowers and shiny people. Like others on your forum topic I totaly agree that there must be a place for such pictures and if I borow the words of Nathan »it is always important to remember - and continue to remind the people around us that we must NEVER FORGET.«
Thank you for link, it is much better that way, becouse there we can find a whole story, very painful one but also very very important.

Note: please read before looking at photos.!
Hello Lali, this topic strikes me when I went through..then I had to upload some of the
photos that I took yesterday when I went to explore the unspoiled BANG NAM CHEUM floating market outside bkk. with my wife.
Hello and many thanks to Geoff, Ruden, Rik and TMB..you all contributed well. You all made many good points.
Lali, I remember making comments to your daughter's photo sometime ago and since you brought up this topic, I, as you know, love taking portrait photos specially children..only need to improve my technique skills a little more.
Both of my 2 boys are all grown up now but I ALWAYS adore and long to hold babies as
they are so fragile.
I just want to make my contribution in making a point that when I took these photos, the boy at first did not pay any attention until I started shooting and talkin' to him and finally giving him some money. I always make friends no matter how poor they are and just by looking at the 3 photos, we all can see how automatic he changed to a smiling face..
and lastly even willingly posed for me!
So, my point is that the communication is one of the most important factors in our life.
Thanks to photography - thanks again Lali to introduce this topic and again Geoff, Ruden,
Rik and TMB to share your opinion and experiences...I respect your thoughts.
These are the 3 photos: please enjoy.!

@Onelop I am very glad that you joined this forum. You know, a funny thing is that a few days ago one of your photos, or sholuld I rather say, one of the coments on your photo, quite upseted me. The portrait which I comented with words »lovely portrait«, becouse that was what I saw –lovely cute baby girl, Zazi, which comented after me, described that same picture with words like to suggestive, too much in her pose..??????. I must admit I was shocked. I was thinking to myself; oh my god in what kind of a world are we living in that a picture of a little baby girl can be seen in a light which is far away from the innocence that a child represents. It stroked me hard.
I hope, dear 1lop, that is o.k. that I post your photo in the forum.

@Lali I am, also, glad to join this forum ( so far ! ). Thank you for your kind words.
Of course it's quite alright to post my photos. I would think nothing of it.
Regarding your feeling towards the comments from woophy members...I would not take
it too seriously as people have their own opinions and naturally ( always ) reasons to back up their doings. Wouldn't you agree? And a lot of people don't want to admit that
it's their fault. It's only a matter of opinion that's why we quarrel and each one of us will
try to find reasons ( or excuses ) to prevent it's not his or her fault.!
May be it's my fault not to post all the photos and that would give people the wrong impression.
I was trying to relate and understand what the comments were meant to be interpreted
and thought ( optimistic ) to myself that " all in good will " and that was that !
As we all know Thailand has a negative image towards the women's situations but everybody has a life to run. This young girl from the photo might grow up to become a
doctor or a prostitude, we'll never know, but I enjoy talking to her and her mother every time I passed by ( at Satorn peer ) and naturally give them some few Baht.
I feel that I should post the other 2 photos that I still have to better the understanding and to let the photos tell the story.
I was going to email you personally to tell you that you have a truly beautiful child and I'm quite sure that you would raise her well.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.
Regards

@Lali. I think that there is no need to be upset at Zazi's comment. I'm sure that Zazi meant only to express her personal concern about the problem of child abuse. 1LOP has pointed it very wisely: when you post a photo, you never know what the people are going to read in it. Consider that in Woophy our pictures are seen by people of different age, sex, culture... in this particular case, we are talking of the reaction of a young European woman about an American Lady's comment about a pic taken by an Asian... and that's the beautiful of the Internet, meeting people so different with different views and opinions. The risk of occasional misundertandings is the cheap toll you have to pay for it.

@1LOP: the long discussion about your pic made me nearly forget the central point: it is a great portrait, and you're right, in that child's eyes you can foresee fortune and misfortune as well...

@1LOP and @TBM; it is a pure pleasure to reed both of your posts and of course I do agree with both of you. And yes, I know; hundred people means hundred different views, thoughts, likes and dislikes. You know it was of course not Zazi herself who upseted me, but the realisation of the fact that the world is really going mad. I admit I am quite naive and probably (reed certainly :-) ) too sensitive. You know how they say that in time you became more firm, well I am not quite sure about that. I had my share of pain in my life, but it made me even more susceptible to fillings of other peoople.
Now, it is enough of my thoughts and fillings, I would certainly like to see more photos of other members and read their stories :-).

Good and touching topic Lali
I contribute with this photo. I have done it in 1999 during a travel in Madras in India. These 3 children asked me to make a picture (Madras being a town where a lot of movies are done, people are very fond of pictures) They were so nice. The 2 youngest explained they had the head shaved because they went to a temple, where this is the custom to make a gift with hairs. We discussed with them a long time, shared fruits and cakes with them, and let them. This is always the same thing when you travel. But I kept them in memory like if it was yesterday. They had nothing in the life except their smile and their love of life. When Tsunami happend few years ago, Madras was toucheed, and my first taught was for these children. I'll never know what happened with them, but I hope they managed to have a better life.
