Dea All,
the idea came to me when Lali commented one of my pictures, saying that it reminded her of a painting by Salvador Dalì, "The Metamorphosis on Narcissus"
Lali was so kind as to send me the image of the painting, observing that the mountains, the reflections, the crack and the overall feeling were amazingly corresponding (I do not want to mean that my pic is so important, of course...).
My reply was that she had to consider her own Renaissance heritage..
An so I started thinking how often a good photo has something that some Great Painter of old times had already shown us... Here, for instance, look not only at the bridge, but also how the impression of being sorrounded by foilage is given in both cases
And here.. the shape of the lake, the top of the trees, and the light that strikes the grass on the other side of the pond..
But my favourite example is this, even though the composition is completely different and the exotic subject is related in a very superficial way.. but the quality of light, IMO, is quite the same in both images, and so is the sense ov movement, the bright colours...
Will anybody find other examples? There are so many photos, out there, and 4000 years of visual arts...
My regards to all, and above all to the friends whose beautiful pictures I have used for this post.

This is truly a great topic,..especially because ...as we already said in our private chat...it does make you look at your own picture with different eyes and from totaly different perspective , ...of course if the resemblance is not deliberately made.
I m looking forward to see what others will find...

Great topic wich reminds us that photography and painting actually use the same compositional rules.
Therefor it wont hurt any photography adepts to look at paintings as well, study the use of the two-thirds rule, use of light, perspective etc...
Paintings can inspire us so do not forget them in these modern times in an almost virtual world...
I do not have any examples but I also expect to see some wonderfull comparisons in this thread...

@spark, I made some comments about your work reminding me of Landseer. I'll try to find a good example to add to this excellent thread!
@TBM, great topic, and nice examples!

This one looks like a Flemish painting with the scenery and the group of children at the lake.

Thanks to you all for joining this forum! So many answers, and so many fine pictures... But please let me stress one point: the purpouse of the game (for this is a game, right?) is not only to show photos that look like paintings, but, possibly, to indicate that special painting that has analogies with the picture, or at least that painter who comes to your mind when you watch a pic from Woophy...
@Spark: incredibly defined image, so wide latitude of exposusre... an HDR, maybe?
@ Scarlet: I do not know Landseer, iI am looking forward for you to send an example.
@Pansa: ah ah, it was me who first talked of the Flemish school about your amazing pic!
@ Sercas72: the black and white floor reminds some Vermeer interirors, and so the furniture and the vaults (also Durer, maybe... sooner or later one could find an example with that particular composition)
@Dieuvertje: The first two pics remind me of the early paintings by Van Gogh (Les Mangeurs de Pommes de Terre). Then, I have expecially enjoied your comparaison with the japanese prints...
See you soon, with more!

@Dieuwertje: you are right, it could be Vermeer, the atmosphere on the shots is very much alike
@TBM: Wow, Ruden and Monet; it looks like they were in the same place at the same time :-).
And now my example...maybe it is not the best one, but I find the general filing of both pictures very much alike.... the back, the hairstyle, the position of the main person...they are both trying to mend something...
