I agree with all.
The background must be more neutral (shadow, blur or monochrom, for instance)
The light could also more interesting. With a light coming only from one direction, (for instance a lamp or close from a window in a dark room), you could give more relief to the bodies and the fur.
It is also, in my mind, very important to have a point where our eyes can focuse. In the second one, the opened mouth is good. It could be the eyes or the fur. For that, you could give to this point more importance, with the light (a reflect in the eye, a shining drop of saliva, lighted whiskers ...)
All cats are nice. If you want to catch the attention of a lot of people with yours, you must given from them a strong picture, something different from what we can see every day looking at ours. Something for what we can say "Ohhh !!!"
But even the more modest cat's pictures receive always some good comments of enthusiastic cat's lovers. But for what the comments ? For the cats, or for the photography ?
It should be for both.
