The good, the bad and the ugly.
There is a lot of good things on Woophy, some bad.
Under the name Tokoloko, there is worst. And I'm afraid the friends of this well-known member act also often as him.
The "Woophy spirit" is often evoked in the forums. But unfortunately these old members ignore fully what it is.
I clean my account (but let it opened with a picture) as protest against the rating system and the impunity of these people.
I follow John, who was their privileged target.
Thank you for all the other members.

@Aline: Please DO NOT clean your account. You shouldn't take the beauty of your works away from the thousands of Woophy members who love it. Downrating is horrible, of course, but you know you have got the sincere admiration of all the people who visit this site. You have their enthusiastic comments, so why care of those little numbers? They can steal your ratings, not the fact that you are a great photographer...

TBM , thank you very, very much.
But please I don't want to see comment about my work here.
Because it is not the topic of this forum, and because I'm an amateur photographer.

I will never forget your comment on one of my pict. maybe you know it, it was the sun in the fog and your comment was Oh Aiso you found him, my golf ball, I lost him...
With kindest regards....

Sad... sad... sad... really sad...
I agree completely with what TBM said, and I wanted to express my solidarity with you and other members affected (like John Melskens). At the same time I think it would be useful for many members to have further information about what's going on with this other members that you were talking about.. (maybe it was allready spoken in other forums??)
Only one more thing: please reconsider your decision... think about all that appreciate your work and your kind and sincere attitude...
All the best,
Ruden Fretsbo

Well, I'm not surprised this happened. It was a matter of time that somebody leaves the site as John did.
Aline, I begging that you come back with your great pictures. They are so great, I love your nature pics really much. I still miss John, now I have to miss another great member with great pictures.
I really want to know what went wrong and how problems can be solved. I sure know that this isn't the solution.
@Joris, can't you do something about these problems, there must be a solution ?????
With kind regards,
Oscar

Aline, as all the other members here have said: please reconsider your decision!
Anyhow, you are free to do what you want, and if this is the way you think that your protest will have an effect than I support you, but please.
I am not one of the "biggest" members, and that is probably why I have not truly experienced the downrating proces (even if I had my small share a while ago), so I probably can't understand comlpetely the frustration, but I would like to remember all the other positive aspects of woophy: such as the community, the inspiration that other portfolios give us (and yours aline shurely is inspiring) and the friendly atmosphere and wonderful pictures.

Aline, I just read your post. So sad it has to come this far. It's said before, you leaving will mean a lot to others,at least to me. Your positive input and great pictures are a great asset to this community. For every bad comment or downrating there are numerous positive reactions. Focus on these.
I once reacted as you, please keep in mind the reaction you've send me then.
Joris, I must say the way you're handeling this iis not right, imho.

@Martin, I could imagine that the downrating isn't the biggest problem of Aline. In case that wasn't John's.......

@Joris I know, I realy do, but Aline is one of the most commented members and 99% of the comments are positive and that's something to get possitive energie from, at least I hope so.
It's too bad we can't have more input then writing these posts. It makes you feel helpless.

Aline, I have no more words than those from Aiso, TBM, Martin, Oscar, Ruud, Ruden or Devish!!! I know how hard it is, as I 've suffered the same problem, (13 fives from many members when down at a time in less than 1 hour; even this night 3 more) don't know from whom (no proof, only suspicions...), and thought of leaving, but 24h later I reconsidered with nice advise from other members, like Ray9, for instance. Today I think it's the right thing, better showing our work to so many people who enjoy it, and support us, than giving the pleasure for those who are frustated and downrate anonimously. And the problem is this one: not mind those who criticize through words, (nice anyway, as we always expect, and justifying the critics), and vote clearly, but it's ugly those who downrate anonimously! So, try to stay calm for 1 day or 2, and then decide what's best for you: By OUR side (I think the opinion of 99% active members) we do hope YOU shall stay!!! All the best, ever!

@ Aline
For me you are one of the most outstanding members of Woophy. I have seen your work evolving over time and I love the beauty and serenity of your pictures. PLEASE don't quite. I have quitted because of some nasty arguements with members and downrating in the past but returned because of the openness of Woophy with the advantages and disadvantages. I don't want to miss your pxs and your always positive and constructive comments. Please wait for 24h and reconsider your decision again. You will make a happy day for most of us by staying member of the Woophy community. I will raise a glass of good French wine if I see you tomorrow again as my Woophy friend.
Love Pansa

She will feel how true woophy members want her back! Come on Aline (sound like Dexys Midnight Runners ;) )!!!

I will open a good bottle of claret (bordeaux) from my cellar tomorow at 9 pm. Wished that you could be there to toast with me on the spirit of Woophy and Aline.

@ Pansa and Miguel : may I join the club with a Duvel (Miguel : this is one of the most famous beers in Belgium)? 9 pm is too early for me (have to work), but 10.30pm is no problem.

This is a truly sad moment;
I really wish for Aline to be able to forget about this incident and consider human stupidity as part of our daily lives. I do believe that it is extremely frustrating and annoying and hurting to suffer from downrating, and I have had some experience in the field, but it is also true that in a democratic establishment like Woophy, we have to expect this type of anti-social behaviour from certain members. Though probably they are only laughing at all these posts in the forum, and taking inspiration to downrate all the members that write something in support of Aline, we probably should really try not to consider them, take a deep breath or open a bottle of wine, and go on with our lives. Knowing that most other members respect our work, in Aline's case most members appreciate and love her pictures, and there will always be somebody that will ruin the easy lives of us normal people.
I wish for Aline to reconsider, and allow us all to gain knowledge and pleasure from her magnificent pictures, for all the other members to keep on giving good or positively critical comments and for the inventors and developpers of the site, Joris, to find a way to shut down accounts of those that are here only to create trouble.
A big hug to all, Aline, I am looking forward to have you back here with us
Nathan
