This is my first try with black/white, and also adding more pictures to same piece.
I want you to be completely honest! Tell me what is wrong, what can and should be done different.
Constructive criticism please!
Best regards

I don't see the added value of B&W in this sequence. The result is somewhat unbalanced because the left part is brighter than the right part (which is a bit at the dark side). No facial expressoin visible in that part. I like the bottom left px because of the viewing direction, the concentration and the facial expression. Perhaps you could tell US why you have choosen B&W and the collage?

The reason for the B&W is because of the beauty that other people here on woophy produce. I want to learn.
For me, the B&W adds a little something to the mood of the other pictures I've seen, but I agree with you. I don't really see the benefit of B&W in this collage.
I have just added a second version of this collage. switching place between the bottom left and upper right picture. I've also adjusted the light a little to (hopefully) even the pictures.
Thank you so far!

Hello, I think you have achieved a good balance of shade in your third photograph, the other I see a little flat by those tones are so similar.
If this is your first job you forward has been acceptable. And remember that the processes of image manipulation with the program -photoshop- is similar to a few years ago we were doing manually in the laboratory.
You can use different systems to change a color image to black and white, like in the lab.
IMAGE/ADJUSTMENTS/DESATURATE
IMAGE/MODE/GRAYSCALE
IMAGE/MODE/LABCOLOR
COMMANDS BURN AND DODGE.......recomended
Certainly is not recommended according to the experts take directly photographs with option black and white from the camera, because we lose a lot of information that may be useful in the future.
Best regards sergio.

Hi Sercas
Thank you very much for your comments.
I've just discovered that my camera, a Nikon D80 keeps the raw-file as an unedited colorpicture even if the jpeg is in B&W.
I will definetly try the image adjustments in photoshop, and experiment with burn and dodge in addition to other image adjustments.
I will take a closer look at my pictures, and post them on woophy later this evening after I've edited them.
Thank you!
Best regards

Hi Vidar!
Nice topic, I love b&w although I have still much to learn. Anyway, I'll give you my opinion. For me the best way to convert a file into b&w in Photoshop is the Channel Mixer (Image>Adjustments>Channel Mixer). With this option you have infinite possibilities of b&w combinations and the added value that is the only method which assures you a complete control and that you are not losing information from the original pic. You can try it, only take into account that the sum of the different values of the channels (red, green, and blue) should be 100, unless you want to modify the brightness of the image.
Now, talking about your present work I think that it's, generally talking, very good, but I wouldn't put all the pictures together because I don't see something in common between them... I think, for instance, that the last picture should be an only picture, because it tells a story in itself. For me this fourth picture is really excellent, and only I regret a little less depth of field, but this is just a question of taste...
Anyway, considering that you said it's your first b&w I must say that you must be proud.
Best regards and good luck!!!

Oh! just one more thing... If you use the Channel Mixer don't forget to select the monochrome option in the control panel!

Hi Ruden!
Thank you for your kind remark and comment on my pictures.
I was hoping to add new and edited pictures on woophy this evening, but making good pictures is not something to approach lightly. Hopefully, I'll add one picture! :-)
I've tried the channel mixer, but the picture became very dark. Probably because the picture was too dark to begin with? I also noticed that when I kept the channels at an added value of 100, the picture was a lot more balanced than I'm used to. Good tip!
I'll sit down with the picture at the bottom right, and do my best!
Best regards
