Dear members,
Thank you all for taking such great interest in the contest Most Beautiful Picture of August 2007. We received many beautiful pictures, a large number of visitors and a great deal of votes. Because of this and of the unusually high quality of the entries we are very proud to declare our first winner.
Our congratulations and the title Most Beautiful Picture of August 2007 go to picture 388908 by Filip de Bont.
Well done, Filip ! You’ll soon receive a Woophy decoration in the form of a small icon to honour your name.
This was the first run of our contest. We collected 111 votes. A few of those were comments by Unofficial.Contest and were never meant as votes. They were ignored in the counting. Sadly though, 10 votes left by well meaning members were ignored as well. This happened for various reasons.
A small number of votes were not well-formed in the sense of our first rule “only submit the six-digit number”. Our automatic vote counter only counts votes that conform to this first rule. Other votes were invalid because they were issued for pictures that never appeared in the “your best picture of August” forum thread.
A full breakdown of the vote count is available from unofficial.contest@gmail.com It consists of a long annotated list with names and numbers sorted and counted in various ways. (If we get many requests for it we’ll post it in this thread. In chunks, because it is many pages long.)

Congratulations Filip de Bont for your 1º place in this contest. I think I didn't vote in your pic, but I recognize that it deserve it very well. It's a great image of an uncommon rock with fantastic texture and color. The only thing that I improved was the detail in the clouds .. I think thay are a little bit overexposed.

My congrats also to Filip de Bont. I didn't vote it also but it is a great picture, and to choose from all the pictures which were sended in......its difficult.

Congratulations !
It's a beautiful photo of an impressive place (I visited it with my wife and a couple of friends, failing to get lost because of the similarity of the landscapes. What about you ?..). It was my 4th vote.

Thanks for choosing my picture and also thanks for the many compliments
Especially it was not easy to choose as there were many beautiful pictures, and the results of the votes prove it, there are not big differences in the number of votes of the 5 first pictures shown in the posting.
I also want to thank Ruud and Oscar for their great initiative.
