Hello, I have decided to take off my photographies from all for several motives, most important it is that searching in google I have found some sites that have used my photographies without my permission, between them some more members of woophy meet affected, maybe it is not a fault of the persons who use them because somebody included to woophy in freestock gallery and some persons must think that it is legal to use this material.
I give a gratefulness to all the commentaries and all the votes obtained in these years.
See you soon my friends....best regards sergio....
Pd...this is the page when I found my pics.....if somebody know japanese tell him something Im joking...:-)...bye....

hello...
well, this is a crucial problem I guess that our work can be taken so simply...
I wouldn't be very happy either if somebody took away my pic, or my idea of taking a pic... It is not easy to find subjects, and it's an effort also catching a good moment, not mentioning the fotographic knowledge background, studies... It's like if we make a house or a painting and puts it on his wall or moves in without our permition... not very ethic I suppose.
I'm very sad that you took out your pics sergio, because it's a pity loose the work of a good fotographer who can teach us a lot through his eyes... but I understand your point.
I wish you the best with your work... and I hope that finally your work will be valued equally as it deserves.

Sergio, actually that's Korean...
And I have to say that's not unexpected that this happends, if you are publishing in internet, there's no way you can control who and what happends with a file once you put it on line :(
good luck!

Max I agree with you.... it is a risk when put material in Internet, besides the fact that on having shared my photos I accept the rules of woophy, I am not angry with it, only that I do not wish to continued happen, since at least in this page they mention my nickname, but in other pages only they take your photos without any respect....
thanks for your comments.

Sergio, I am very sorry both to hear about your pictures being "stolen" and about you leaving.
Obviously you should do what you think is right, but you will be missed.

Watermarkers ... lots of watermarkers ... winemarkers ... beermarkers ... and so one!
It's one solution. A marker bigger than the pic.
My next pic posted will be a BIG mark!

Devish said the right words. We will miss your companionship and great photos on Woophy. Hope you find a way to come back. Woophy staff might consider blocking the download option. I also found some of my pxs in all kind of places.

Sergio,
I can understand that you leave Woophy but the copyright reason is not a good one. Pictures are stolen from every photo site (except those that apply a big watermark), and there is no way to avoid that. You may not be aware of this, but everyday, there is a number of pics uploaded on Woophy, which are stolen from other sites, even from sites which put large copyright notices below the pic. Uploaded today, there is such a pic, where the copyright notice may be even seen on the frame!
By the way, I am surprised that so many people (except professionals of course) are so sensitive about the copyright issue; if I my pics were stolen, I would rather feel flattered.
Cheers,
alain

It's a pity when people leave the site because of this.
I'm considering myself as a pure amateur photographer, so I agree with ortho158, I would be flattered if someone else used my pictures.
For the woophy day (25-8 in kampen) I showed the participants a powerpoint session with their own pics.
Blocking the site for downloading these pictures would make something like that impossible.
By the way, sometimes a nice pic of another woophy member is printed and hangs somewhere in my home.

One solution:
Frames ......... Watermarks ........ Text ......... and the pic also!

I understand that for some people it is really disappointing to find their pictures on other sites without their permission.
However there is not much we can do about it because showing a picture also makes it possible to steel the picture.
What Woophy can do
1. protect the rights of their members actively by taking action against sites who illegally Woophy pictures. If Sercas had send me a mail I would of course have taken action.
2. Advice members to upload the pictures they don’t want to be stolen in low resolution
3. To state more clearly what our terms of use are.
4. To use watermarks
I would like to hear your ideas about it so please let me know
Joris
BTW I was an admirer of Sercas work and I think it is a pity he left
